Generations

Story Behind The Song

The song generally talks about the joining of all generations together to live and breathe in peace as one community of the world.

Song Description

A smooth groove in 6/4 time but you'd never know it. It has a soulful feel simliar to a Bill Withers or Grover Washinton Jr. groove but without the sax. A shinning vocal track with lots of feeling and excitement. This song is flowing with ear candy throughout; there are live ethnic percussion instruments such as Tabla, Tonbek and Shakare' blending with traditional drumset all being supported by some tasty keyboard and guitar work.

Lyrics

What will you leave for me?
To find my way back home
Where shall I go to seek you?
And feel Im not alone?

A whisper in a melody
A message in the sand
The passage of time is seamless
In the joining of our hands

Generations, generations

What will I give to you?
More than my heart and soul
Ill fill you with light and truth
And watch the gift unfold

Love in all directions
Crossing land and sea
A never ending flow
Connecting you and me

Generations (I can feel you I can touch I can love you, all my life)
Generations (I can feel you I can touch I can love you, all my life)
Just the way you are
Generations (I can feel you I can touch I can love you all my life)
Generations (I can feel you I can touch I can love you all my life)

Love leaves its signs no matter where we go
Love leaves its mark no matter what we do

What will you leave for me?
To find my way back home
Where shall I go to seek you?
And feel Im not alone?
A whisper in a melody
A message in the sand
The passage of time is seamless
In the joining of our hands

Nice chord progression. The vocalist does a nice job. Nice arrangement, too without overplaying. The backing vocal ideas really fit the tune nicely.

Great piece ! Arrangement, composition are too cool.

This puts me in a high class lounge in a New York High Rise Hotel.......

I love this song and the singer is really great.

Very lush and rich chord progression. The rhythm section is fantastic and I really dug the vibe overall. Tight band, and nice dynamics. This could easily find its way into the appropriate film or TV backdrop.

Rather unusual feel, 12/16 (or 4/4 with 16th note triplets). Unique vibe. The vocals are strong! Good players.

Very cool and somewhat haunting vibe here. Great lyrics, great vocals, great vibe, great instrumentation. Love it!

A very nice, warm sound here. The balance of the recording is great, but it has a lot of liveness to it also. The vocalist is striking. ...really centred on her notes with a depth of vibrato and tone which express the emotions. Sound like this group know each other very well and get on well, and respect each other's talents.
All the performances are professional and complement one another, and combine to make the whole project successful. Some nice chords... reminiscent of Maze perhaps?

Really pretty song!! Love the texture of the music! Singer is incredibly good!! I love the changes and the arrangement! GREAT STUFF!!

The arrangement and high quality of instrumentalists is really good. I liked the the tone of the vocal, very nice. I feel this could be played on radio or in a movie. Keep goin'.

There's a depth to the lyrics that is really singular in this composition. I like the artistic touch to the lyrics, which is complemented by some amazing instrumentation. The percussion is pretty darn amazing...producer made some really great choices here.

Rich voicings greet you... percussion starts walking... you have to follow... Voice... female... This song is wonderfully thought out, beautifully constructed, and the production is inviting.

This reminds me of something Nancy Wilson could have recorded later in her career. The lyrics have a necessary depth. It would be great for folks to read these lyrics without the music, then hear the song. Seems so timely in 2018...

It would be interesting to hear Patty Austin's voice on this... or Phyllis Hyman... or Esperanza Spaulding...

I like the female jazz singer in this tune. It does have wonderful harmonies and rhythm. I like the style of this tune and It works well for me. I hope this recording artist continues in her music career.

Interesting Start and chord at the beginning Beautiful strong developed voice this lady didn't start singing last month Nice creative drums
Good breakdown at 2;30 Oh-Oh! Surprize guitar and very hot too! Enjoyed this!

Nice vocal good song...
Well done
Like the guitar when it comes in

Great percussion feel throughout! The vocalist has a soulful, smooth delivery that really adds to the vibe. It sounds like the percussion is live and the drums are programmed, which I don't have a problem with. However they're recorded, they work very well together. The keyboard sound is great for this texture and the piano weaves in and out effectively. The vocal harmony is appropriate, as is the guitar solo. The whole package is recorded and mixed/mastered very well.

Vocalist has that Phyllis Hyman sound, music arrangements pretty good.Entire track is good

I like the vocalists voice.

If I heard this song at a wedding or an anniversary celebration, I'd really enjoy it. In and of itself it's unique, original, and heartfelt. Instrumental is driving and keeps this song moving forward and the listener anticipates the next section...nice quality. Not all songs have that quality. Applause.

Very smooth sounding R&B boerdering on Steely Dan in spots, vocals are solid and bring the listener into the song. Backing is sold...very professional sound.

Really nice sound around a beautiful black woman voice. Good african spirit on a very tasty band, with a quality arrangement.
Awesome guitar chorus, nice keyboard's chords.
