Hi Becky. Congrats on ur song getting selected. I was also selected. I did not receive an email from the opportunity telling me what the next step is (contract to review, etc). Did you?
Hi there! Congrats to you too! Nope I have not seen anything yet either.
Thx for letting me know. In the past when I had a song selected, I always received an email in the same moment they notified me of my song being selected. So this seems a bit odd
Congrats on Frostbite Heart! I hope this is your ticket to success. You certainly deserve it. Never give up!
That is because that is all that happens on this site. I used to give them money for years. Had songs selected multiple times. Never, not once ever heard anything about it after the initial selection. Don't waste your money.
Fletcher Christian, you are right! I have been selected at the dam3 time as Randall previously and neither have heard anything in a year! Too many so called Opportunities do not select any songs! I think that, 1) The company should be named which is offering the opportunity! 2) The company should state the artists who have been successful in being remunerated! 3) A success rate should be shown giving artists selected but not successful! 4) Stats should show how many times no one was taken on board! There is a provider here which I will never submit to for various reasons! Providers should be rapped on the knuckles for selecting music which does not go anywhere near the Genre asked for! Only my opinion!
Happened to me too quite recently. Had Glendalough selected by a provider but then heard nothing. Initially we are naturally reluctant to rock the boat but eventually I took it up with BJam and was told "Although they indeed liked your track, after further consideration they've decided to pass, in large part because they've worked with you in the past and at this time don't have anything new to share." If you can make any sense of that, your better than I am. It may relate to a falling out involving my former publisher but they knew very well I was not involved. Anyway, I was advised to consider blacklisting the provider - one of the most prolific on Bjam! Have tried to contact them direct and have been assured by Roy that he will make peace on my behalf, but so far, there's been nothing. The more fuss made, the less likely the provider would ever be to pitch a song on my behalf, even if selected! Frustrating and often quite suspicious.
Yeah I've been hearing a lot of these kinds of things. One guy, I won't say his name, had his song selected. According to him it was a movie and they spent $3 million on the movie and his song was to be played in it. Then, inexplicably, the movie never came out.
Appreciate the stars for, "When You Gonna Hit"! I was out walking one day when that phrase just popped into my head! Have not a clue where it came from! Imagination took over and walla! I do like a Story Lyric!
"Night Stare" could be titled, "Content"! A gentle, dreamy song performed so delicately! Lovely melody supported by thoughtful harmonies and leading piano! Very thoughtful Lyrics! A lovely song overall! Should be proud!
Def 5 Stars from me!
Much appreciated stars for, "I See Her Dancing"! A romantic lyric story is not everyone's cup of tea, but it is No. 1 in Six of Broadjam's Top Ten Charts just now, so can't be that bad!
I say that's AWESOME Jim! Congrats!! Frank
Hi Jim, Thank you so much for reviewing my song "Princess Jane". I really appreciate you taking the time to listen and provide such insightful and kind comments. That one is a very personal piece that I wrote for my wife Jane. I play it for her on a regular basis typically ending my "noodling" session with it. She has a special placed for it as well... stirring many personal memories and emotions. Thanks again for listening. Be well, Frank
I did not know it was your song Frank! It was lovely! Really enjoyed it!
Hi, you are my first Noah! I looked you up to hear your music! Do you have any to share or are you looking for music to enjoy? Feel free to browse mine for enjoyment. There are some great artists (and very, very nice people) on Broadjam! Nice to hear you enjoy spending time with family. Enjoy the ride!
Hi again pal! It is touching that you composed a song about me! Ok, I'll be serious! So nice to hear from you after a while! Was Christmas good for you and family? hope so! Of course, I really liked your song, "I Still Think Of You". You never disappoint! Where do you get all the lovely, suttle and touching melodies from? With the Title in mind, images were formed which probably were miles from what you were trying to convey! We are all entitled to our perspective I suppose! 12/10 if I could!
Nice to hear from you, Jim! We had a good Christmas, hope you did, too. Now into the arctic plunge of winter. Thank you so much for the kind words and support. I appreciate you listening to and the stars for "I Still Think of You". Looking forward to hearing more of your beautiful songs.
Hi, long time since we spoke! You have had fun with Lucid Dreams! Could have been called, "Nightmare"! Only kidding! I will need to get into using a Daw! It would be better being shown how to use it. Save time! I see you are prominent in the Broadjam charts! Great! Scotland for quality!
Experimentation is fun and in the words of Alice Cooper, "Welcome To My Nightmare". All the best mate, Cheers.
Hi Jim, Many thanks for the stars and playlists for Achill Lament and Rolling On, I'm very grateful. Still waiting on the outcome of the UKSC. You did well in the DSA contest, you should be pleased. I had a quick look at the results video and one or two writers seemed to dominate every category, heaven knows what it cost them to enter. Very nice that our own Thierry took the place by storm. Cheers, Bob
Was it 4th, 3 rd and 2 nd Thierry achieved?
As I saw it he had 3rd, 2nd and 1st, plus the overall Champion Award.
Hi Ricky what's new? I only see two songs in your list. Came to listen to more. Of mine, I recommend my latest, "I See Her Dancing" (Tim)
Hi Jim Only running those two at present . been on charts many months ! I'll check you out later !! Stay Frosty !!!!!
Echoes of the past is a lovely Country number Dave! Is this written about your own kids! Love your rhythm and superb vocals! Guitar intro set the mood! Easiest five stars today!
I appreciate it!! Yes, it was about our kids leaving the nest!! Puppy- eyed bonafide love was about losing our dog! The up close and personal things that affect me the most seem to be the easiest to write about!! ..Dave
I'm the same! I have a song written about my sister (Drift Away) which was easy to write. So was my very first one about Covid personal loss! (The Promise) in Jan 2021. My latest and maybe best is, "I See Her Dancing"! It is No. 1 in six categories in Broadjam Charts! Blowing my trumpet here, but no one else will! I just enjoy creating nice songs. Will listen to more of yours since I really like what I hear! Cheers!
Thanks for the stars re: "The Promise" and "I See Her Dancing". Different from your genre so really appreciated!
You deserve the five stars! Which songs of yours do you reckon I should listen to? Of my songs, I recommend you hear, 1. "I See Her Dancing" 2. "Dear Jane", 3. "The Promise" and "One Night Stand". You are bound to like one of them!
Thank you, Jim for 5 Stars on Irish Whiskey. We are simply trying to tell a story...
What made you write about the Irish and whiskey? I am Scottish and we spell it as, Whisky without the e! Never the less, you have a lovely song here! It is a gentle, melodic tune which I suppose mentions what you would imagine Ireland would be about! I actually liked the two voices singing almost the same. You could have had glasses clinking in the background. Well done boys! I'm a fan! I have an Instrumental song, "Outlander" which leads with the Irish Uilleann Pipes! You should give it a listen! My songs are an eclectic mix with Lyric Stories!
I loved Outlander!! My favorites on our lineup are Love On The Lam, and Slow Down. They both have dynamic endings...But...if we made an album it would be all eleven! I will try to listen to all your BJ music. Thanx again
Like you, I love a story in my songs! Some true! Have fallen into the ballads, but "upbeat 3 minutes" seems to be what everyone wants to hear! I'll listen to yours now! I fully enjoy the spectrum of what music can do!
Thanks for i See Her Dancing stars Warren! Glad you appreciate good music!
Absolutely buddy! W
Bob your, Rolling On is a Cracking song! Love the beat and continual "Rolling on"! The squeezebox subtley supporting at the correct places! Is that really you singing? I think I should start a Podcast of Specific Genre, Top Broadjam music! Your quality is consistently Top Notch Bob! I see you have some Christmas songs. I am thinking I must create a Christmas song! The powers that be are always looking for something new each year!
Ti's me singing sir, thanks again, and for the stars. Will check out Outlander this morning.
And "The top of The Morning to You Warren"! Get those crutches moving! Just heard Bob Bentley's, "Achill Lament" and it is very Scottish sounding! Not as atmospheric as my, "Outlander" though! I tried to get it to Bear Mccreary who creates all "Outlander" music, but he is uncontactable! I can hear it being played there! A big congrats to Randall for winning the Dallas, Love Song category last night! My $50 raffle prize will go towards next years membership here!
Wow very cool! I'll congratulate him! I did see after asking you won a raffle-great! No crutches LOL just careful walking until they let me walk outside in a couple of days... Xoxo still sleepy time here... W
On a Celtic vein, Have you heard my rendition of "Outlander"?
Oooooh Bob! You have plucked my heart strings with "Achill Lament"! Why is it not in the Scottish category? Especially loved the wee twirls at the end of the choruses! So So Scottish! You must have a Caledonia connection! All the exclamations are because it is my direct reaction to bonding with it! The choice of instruments was perfect! And it is your absolute best vocals yet!!!! Ha! Arouses the emotions! Many a Scotsman abroad would melt on hearing! Just like me! Really lovely! Run out of superlatives!
Thanks Jim, especially for the vocals!! Achill island is on the West Coast of Ireland, hence the Celtic rather than Gaelic link. However I have family history with both countries and Achill Lament could easily be Scottish, but for the title. I'm just glad you liked it and I'm still keeping everything crossed for a win in the UKSC.
Re UKSC, Good Luck! I had Seven Semifinalists! My worse year out of the three I entered! Had a Finalist in the other two!
Thanks Jim. Over the years I've had a lot of semi finalists but a final place has only happened 5 times, so it's a treat.
Which songs of yours must I hear Bob! You have a fair amount with plenty of plays so you pick your favourites! I remember liking one with a husky voice! Been neglecting you I'm afraid! I am on other sites to share and discuss music so it all takes time!
Hard to say Jim! The husky one is It Won't Be Me Who Says Goodbye but both Achill Lament and Glendalough are newish and in charts. Back To A Younger Me is #1 in the Americana chart. Take your pick sir!
Jim, a couple more Bentley classics I love listening to: "Rolling On" and "Knock 'em Dead." The melodies are very infectious coupled with conversational lyrics that keep with the feel of the melodies and are easy to identify with. John
Thanks John
One Night Stand ( Kim piano) and Dear Jane appreciated Rex! The other, "One Night Stand" (not the Tim Version) is more complete and better I reckon! It is better than the solo piano!
Cheers for stars re: I See Her Dancing" Allyson! Which version do you prefer Warren?
Let me listen, I'll let you know, out of back surgery 3rd day, doin reasonable... W
Well listening on my phone speaker, I like the gents overall vocal-however I like the lady's "pace" and patience in the phrasing much better, if that makes any sense... one other note off the top of me head is I'd like to hear an extra if not bar, some "space" between verses and chorus'sss, for effect--but just my opinion... it's a great song my friend all that said... Xoxo Warren
Apologies, I obviously did not know you are incapacitated. My best wishes to you! Remember, we are not getting any younger! I totally agree with you that an extra bar or two between verse and chorus sounds better, but I am aware that my songs are quite long so I cut where I can! I am butchering what I think is right, for the music "Experts!" Capitulating! With my Story telling Lyrics I need time to complete a song to my satisfaction! That is why, I'll never make it to the Radio! There is surely a place for longer songs!
No problem my friend, I WAS going to say I'd trim it too a bit, I've had my producer do that on several of my own tunes and frankly they needed it--but the quandary of "art" vs today's "reality " sucks! No apologies needed, hell I've been in various pain since 7/1/19, so this new recovery pain is needed! I'm 70, and looking forward to less pain and being able to walk more than 1/4 mile and standing longer than 5 mins! But hell some folks have no legs, so perspective needed!! Such is life... Stay safe and sane buddy! W
I beat you, I am 71! You are immersed in music: I am a mere novice! It is so hard to cut a story Song since you lose potentially good lyrics. Wife says you must leave something for the imagination like she hears on the radio! You will not like my latest long Story song! "Sunset" Just received it completed today from singer Tim Patterson from Broadjam. Nice story line but!!! I'm afraid it is too Long, Slow and needs added instruments! It is not finished or ready to share on Broadjam yet! If you care to hear it and give your two cents worth, drop me your email and I'll send the mp3
It may be good therapy! Ha!
Cheers Jim my email is on my page notes but since I have zero secrets it's wheinsong@gmail.com Feel free it'll give me something to do! Real rehab starts when they let me, but already walking better! Xoxo W
Sending over now! Purely to give you some exercise! Remember, I am not content to leave it as it is so please feel free to give it all barrels! Take care!
Hey all I can do is be honest, if I have any ideas, like all our ideas, free! Xoxo W
My 10 year old grand daughter came into the room when I had your, "Vistaview Lane" on speaker! She created her own dance on the floor! You incited the expression in her! A really lively piece! Enjoyed it immensely!
That is heartwarming indeed! :-) Made my day, sir! -- I create a lot of things that might be called a little eccentric. But this one I deliberately, from the gitgo, tried to write something more accessible and, well, more 'likeable' generally. Perhaps I should try that again sometime soon. Thank you, Jim! --- 'Rex'
Thanks for the 5* for 'Keep Me Warm' Jim! David.
Great to see you doing so well at the moment Jim. Keep them coming!
From a standing start with my first song written and recorded on Jan 2021 Bob, I have surprised myself. Unfortunately my music is going nowhere but, Im having a blast!
All you can do is to enjoy it, keep it coming and submit to opportunities from time to time.
Congrats Jim on your recent successes! Well done... Warren
Realistically my Music is not going anywhere Warren, but anything positive is welcome! Cheers!
Ditto baby, ditto! Xoxo
Thank you Jim for the Five Star t Review. It means a lot to me. Glad you enjoyed it, Felice
A Professionally created song, all aspects! Deserved The Stars!
Thanks again. There is a video on YouTube with the song. Just put in Felice Kaye Cooper.
Thanks will check it out! Maybe check out one of my videos on YouTube! Try "Jim Aitken Drift Away (video) Tissue required!
Hi Felice Kaye, just enjoyed your "Into Your Eyes"! Like your full and expressive Lyrics! (I write Lyrics and music) Your music sounds ideal for a Show and quite European! I did not select your song with most plays to hear! Do you recommend specific songs of yours that I should hear? (Old or New)
"Don't Break My Heart Again"/vocal, "Why Did I Lose You"/vocal
Thanks for the stars for "I see her dancing" (Allyson) David! I think when Allyson has mixed the music with her vocals, she has her vocals too quiet. I would rather the singing had a little more volume! I reckon Tim Patterson's version is better!
Hi Jim. I'll check out that version too. Many thanks for the 5*s. Much appreciated. David.
I like, "Keep me Warm"! Love the sax! It keeps the sound Warm and rolling! I can hear this in a Night Club, Evening Dresses, Tuxedo, Lovely meal, Beautiful companion, In love! That enough?
Thank you for your comments Jim. I have a non-public Christmas version of 'Keep Me Warm' which is fundamentally the same, but with different lyrics. The song has had a few plays on BBC Radio Cumbria over the last few years in the run up to Christmas.
Hi Jim, Thank you for The Beatles comparison for my song 'Second Hand Clothes'. I'm flattered! Your song 'I See Her Dancing' reminds me of early Joni Mitchell. It's like something from her 'Blue' album. David.
I'll look it up! Years since I've heard Joni! I've submitted songs to bbc but, no luck! Well done you! I see you are one short of 100 songs! When's the century? Which songs of yours do you reckon I should hear?
Hi Jim. The century should be coming up soon, I hope. As for recommendations I suppose it depends on what you like. I've got songs in all sorts of styles, from acoustic stuff to House music, even Reggae. For a modern pop song you might like 'The Way You Change'. For something more retro 'Keep Me Warm'. Folk/Country 'She Can Fly' Cheers. David.
Enjoyed She Can Fly! Your music is refreshing and you have good vocals. Worth the Five stars! I do not sing! I only write a lyrics and Melodies! It is late! Hear more tomorrow! If interested, I would recommend you hear my, "Dear Jane" , "The Promise", "One Night Stand"!
