Hi Rex , thanks for a great review of No More Wishes In The Well ! It was the first song I wrote after quite a few years of writing nothing ! The idea came to me while I was at work . Luckily I was able to jot down the lyrics , and i worked out the chords when i returned home .
I know about being lucky, or rather smart enough, to do that. Recently, I had what I believed to be a terrific hook for a song come to mind. I waited to record it not more than a few minutes, got distracted -- and I lost it, could not recall it. It was downright depressing, not to mention stupid. -- Another fine tune, Phil. Keep on keepin' on! -- Rex
Hi Rex , thanks for the 5* for It Just Doesn't Feel Like Christmas !
Actually, as best as I can determine, I have not had the pleasure of auditing this song, much less awarded stars, till this moment. A case of mistaken identity it seems. My loss in any case, am listening to It Just Doesn't Feel Like Christmas as I type.
There is a poignancy therein, in the quality of your voice's reading of the story, not to mention in the memorable melody on which it hangs. A very nice piece. ***** Five Stars are in order! *****.
My misfortune that I haven't made your acquaintance sooner. You have a new follower!
All the best to you, sir!
Well that's very strange Rex ! Nevertheless , thank you for your lovely belated comments regarding my little ditty . Ha Ha , and presuming it was you , thanks for taking the time to listen to a few more of my songs .
Broadjam works in mysterious ways !
Take care ,
Hey Catnip ,
Thanks for the lovely review of Dashing For The Mistletoe , hApPy Christmas !
Hi Kate , what a great review of The Mission , thank you !
Just to clear up a couple of points you raised , why 1365 ? Because it scans well , and rhymes with the survive (the last lyric in the next line) Also it will take the aliens 700 years to complete their mission , so it gives the song a bit more longevity !
The eliminate you , and home and dry lyrics refer to what their mission is about - to get rid of us . I like to think of the song as "Invasion Of The Bodysnatchers" , set to music .
Thanks again ,
You have a strange, creative and wonderful mind, Phil. Out of my league...but I have a great respect for your art. Thanks for answering my questions. I sure hope I survive!
Ha Ha , I hope so too !
Hey Delta , thanks for giving 5 stars to SECRETS !
Forgot to say , I'm a grandparent too !
that was how I started to record... when they were little... my granddaughters grew up listening to my lullabies every nite... some of my stores to maybe checkout
Violets of Halloween
The Wind He Knows me Well
like to know what you think!!!
in music Delta
Hey Ho Delta , oldies rule ! You sure have some interesting tracks out there . I'm not familiar with how the spoken word format works , so I really can't comment , apart from the fact that the mix is extremely well produced .
I also enjoyed Dust In The Wind , had to give it 5 stars !
Glad you liked "Dust in the Wind" thank You for 5*... spoken is easy... my producer is my go to man... he does my music I am blessed to have him...
Interesting story... had a session with a ?physic today who said I am sounded by my ancestral Celtic storytellers and a great great gran comes to me at night to give me stories and they spend their time gathering stories to right them down... I am the last of my family on this plane to be the storyteller in song... always wondered why I love stories in song...
Again thank you 🎶🎶🎶Delta
Hi Delta , what a great review of Photo In The Hall ! Thank you , there's not many have the patience to stick with it , and grasp what it's all about . I'm glad you did !
Your welcome!!! I am also a story singer
My favourite story singer is Harry Chapin ! Such a shame he left us so early .
Every now and then I try to write a "Harry" song , I love it when I do .
Feel free to have a listen to my latest tale in honour of the maestro , called SECRETS .
Take Care .
Hi Warren , thanks for the 5 stars for Surfin' The Net . You are forgiven for your review of my earth moving song !
Lol, my goal in life? Total absolution...
Ha Ha , you're wish has been granted !
Hi Warren , thanks for reviewing The First Time I Felt The Earth Move . As usual , you make some good points ! Maybe one day I will do a shorter version ...That having been said , no sooner had I read your review , someone else gave it a 5 star rating . It's a funny old game .
Take Care ,
Well as always you are a class act sir, I didn't know it was you, and that's a good thing, as I always try to be as fair as possible. I was a bit in a hurry though, and could have said more POSITIVE things, but I tried to say it has some quality chops, just needs work, but hell, what song doesn't?
Take care sir, and I'd be curious on who gave a 5...sometimes I believe some of us give nothing but 5's...so it goes...
Ha Ha , I only ever give 5 stars out ! Margie and Art Corey were the generous star givers on this occasion .
Well, that explains volumes...
Hi Phil, Just stopping by your page to say a big thank you for your kind words about my tune The Winter - I'm very glad that you enjoyed it and I really appreciate the feedback! Good Luck with your musical ventures! Nigel
Thanks for a top review of Under Her Wing, much appreciated. (We seem to be vying for places in the same charts at the moment, not that I'll ever understand them!)
Ha Ha , I suppose the only thing to take from these charts , is that it's better to be in them , than not in them !
Correct, and it does no harm having the ego massaged once in a while!
Hi Kate , what a wonderful review of Old Friend , thank you .
I'm with you on the vocal , but I kind of like it that way . There's a couple of notes I hit that I can't create again , no matter how hard I try !
True grit. Keep up the good work. You're a great storyteller. Burl Ives! MK
Phil, thank you for your always encouraging comments on my songs. Much appreciated! Like you, the elusive break still awaits - but we carry on! Al
We can but try !
Hey Ho , thanks for the great review and 5 stars for Weren't You The One .
It's about 20 years old now , but still one of my favourites . Back in the day , we managed to get it to Barry Manillow , but the fool turned it down !
Hi Frank , no luck with the Christmas songs , maybe next time .
Hey Ho , thanks for the great review of Wherever You're Hiding . Ha Ha , after giving 4 of my songs the thumbs down , looks like it was 5th time lucky !
Yea you welcome. I think you had some pretty cool lyrics and melody.
Hi Frank , thanks for the lovely comments about It Just Doesn't Feel Like Christmas . There aren't many sad Christmas songs about , so maybe someone will pick up on it .
I know what you mean. We wrote/recorded a sad one called "Hallelujah Angels". It's more special now that both my parents have passed, and my wife's Dad has passed. Here's a link to it on Broadjam:
Nice song Frank . I see you have a few Christmas songs there , any luck with them so far ?
We've had a little bit of luck with "Where's the Snow." Nothing major to speak of, but it did get into holiday rotation on an online radio as well as a TV News Network was using it during their weather segments at Christmas Time because there wasn't any snow... go figure!
When we recorded and released it back in early 2000's we did sell several hundred copies, but quite honestly, we weren't really marketing/pushing it very aggressively.
I just submitted them to a Broadjam Licensing opportunity, so we'll see... maybe this year we'll have better luck. :)
Well done Frank ! I expect we both submitted our Christmas songs to the same licensing opportunity .
I'll bet we did! Good luck Phil... please let me know how it goes.
Hi Scott , many thanks for the 5 stars for Surfing The Net . Very much appreciated !
Well deserved Phil, great song.
Cheers Scott , strangely it's in the Broadjam female top 10 . Work that one out !
Haha so is my track "No Road" and it's a instrumental. Go figue...
Thank you for your review of "Only Skin Deep". I appreciate it. Have a wonderful day!
Your welcome Marilyn .
And thank you for the 5 star rating as well.
Thanks for the review of my tune Stronger. Can I ask which part of the vocal is unclear? I find it strange that you say you can't hear the words. Thanks.
Could be me but I was having a hard time hearing out the lyrics over the instrumentation.
There's a coincidence Nigel , I received the same comment from Collaborations for one of my songs Nigel .
Also , as i recall , I gave 5 stars for Stronger . Every part of the vocal was crystal clear .
As I said it could be me. Sometimes I have a hard time hearing the lyrics when there is a lot of instrumentation. I did really like the song
Hi Denis , thanks for the review of Whale Of A Time . Ha Ha , don't know what the fart sound is you can hear , but it appears you liked it anyway !
Yes I think the fart sound was the bass right before the chorus
Hey Ho , thanks for the great review of I've Got Something To Give You . Sorry I'm a bit late replying , but we've been away on holiday .
Hey Phil, great stuff!I'm glad you got away and got a break! I am sure you deserved it!
Hi John , thanks for the review of Fragile . I've just been offered a publishing deal for this one , so we will see what happens .
Hi Frank , thanks for the great review of Dashing For The Mistletoe . Yes , wouldn't it be great to have a real saxophone doing it's thing . Maybe I will get one for Christmas !
I hear ya Phil
I'm so very grateful for the technology that we have today that allows us to "at least" get our ideas recorded and out there!
Here's hoping Christmas delivers all the "presents" we'd like to have!
Hi Bill , thanks for the review of No More Wishes In The Well . It was the first song I wrote after a long break from writing , so it has a lot to answer for !
You could well be right about the snare , but after all these years I've become accustomed to it .
Hi Jay , thanks for the review of Me And Her (The Happy Song) . As you say it's not the style of song you usually like , I'm more than happy with your comments !
Hi Toni , thanks for reviewing a couple of my songs . Surfing The Net always goes down well , I'm pleased to say !
Yippee ! Visiting foreign shores , after a two year gap (for obvious reasons) .
Please excuse me if I don't reply to any messages , I will be otherwise engaged .
Happy Holidays .
Well done Warren !
Many thanks sir!!
Hi, Phil. It's great to see you on the Earth chart...which should not be surprising, terrific songwriter that you are. Thank you for the stars on "Stay Here Now." That one is my favorite. After a couple of dates back in 1978, Lora emailed me in 2003 and we were 1,000 miles apart...Phoenix and Portland...and we phoned and emailed for a year until she could come to Phoenix almost a year later, and we married, when I was 49. I was often called a "late bloomer," and told "Better late than never!" Both terms I absolutely hate!
You're welcome John , it's worth every star . Ha Ha , I didn't get married until I was 37 . Most of my friends were on wife number 2 by then !
I met my wife while I was working as an entertainer on a holiday camp , and she came away for a week with a friend .
Turned out we both lived in the same town , so we didn't have your problem !
Pretty darned lucky there, Phil, with you and your wife starting out in the same town!
Some of your tunes really work well with the country genre. What sets "If I Had Someone Like You" apart is that it has the lilting flavor as when Ringo Starr did songs like "What Goes On" from Rubber Soul. It breaks from the usual country fare and puts on something charming and delightful, as in the way that only Ringo was able to do, although it is definitely your own.
Ha Ha , some might call it lucky .....
The other thing was , that I knew my wife's brothers , and I'd played soccer for a team that her dad managed .
As my wife is 12 years younger than me, i had no idea of her existence , until that fateful holiday .
Thanks for your kind words regarding my country song . I enjoy having a go at country music , but it's such a hard market to break in to !
Hi Randall , thanks for the 5 stars for LOST . It always makes me feel good when someone gives me those !
