John & Geri

John & Geri

In the early 1970’s, John formed a rock band called “John T. and The Bobby Manz Machine”,  booked by the William Morris Talent Agency out of Chicago, traveled throughout the States playing the Ramada and Holiday Inn circuits.  In 1975, John met Geri, a folk artist who sang in coffee houses in the Milwaukee area. After their marriage in August of 1976, John & Geri moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. There, in a small cabin in the woods, they made Jesus Lord of their lives. They began writing Christian music together, giving their testimony and singing in churches. In 1978, they recorded their gospel album “I Talked With Jesus Last Night“ (on YouTube) .  In 1982 Christine Wyrtzen, Dove Award Nominee, recorded two of their songs on her album “For Those Who Hurt”.  They left the ministry and took careers to support their family. In 2021, John & Geri retired and began doing again what they love, writing music.<

Hi, John and Geri. I'm catching up with what's been going on at BJ. You have very pleasing personable style of mixed vocals that fit comfortably into the listener's living room while you tell your stories. You dropped by a few weeks ago and enjoyed "Just Another Weekend," which I humbly thank you for. I've never been to Michigan's upper peninsula which I would imagine is a lovely place. Going across Canada is as close as I got. I like your lilting arrangements, too. Today's pop music doesn't have much of that anymore. Thanks much for dropping by! John

Thank you John. Back in the 80's, we sent some songs we wrote to Scott Turner, Buried Treasure Music (ASCAP), Captain Kidd Music (BMI). He composed songs with Buddy Holly, Audie Murphy and many more. He liked our "vocal styling". Unfortunately, he passed away in 2009. He was an awesome mentor to us even though nothing "big" happened on our end. We just keep plugging away. The UP is a lovely place, but not much fun in Winter!!
