In my review of your song "Time to Wake up" I wrote the name of the song should be Make up. Haha. That was a typo. I meant Wake up. Made me smile, so I had to leave a comment.

Well, I have been at the same festivals as Tommy, but no, I couldn't claim to know the man. We have exchanged the odd hi, here and there, but that's about it. He endorses Australian guitar-maker, Maton, while I endorse their Australian rival, Cole Clark, so I guess in that sense we're working for competitors. He is a wonderful player tho', I agree. I have worked with a couple of guys who work regularly with Tommy, just last Friday I played a gig with Nick Charles, another Maton endorsee and I am also very fond of Michael Fix, another fine Australian Guitar-player. Check 'em all out on YouTube, I'm sure you'll enjoy their work. Nice as always to hear from you, Donovan. Happy Hunting. Fondly, Alex Legg

Hey Alex! Thanks very much for the comments and review on Downside Up! In fact, I just uploaded a remixed version. Hope it maintains the previous standard! ;-) In any event, I am pleasantly surprised to know you are a music "purist" and can look beyond the surface to actually evaluate what a song has to offer. Today's songs have a lot to compete against in delivering a uniqueness, as most ideas are often "history repeating itself" (as you referenced in your review). However, the challenge of today's artist is to take ideas from the past and reinvent them in a way to create knew ideas, rhythms, and grooves and present a whole new presentation while maintaining the "magic" of what made those ideas so great the first time around! Thanks again!, Peace Jantony

Love The Raven Peter. All the medieval mysticism of Syd Barrett. Great vibe. What ARE those headphones?? They work well. A very beautiful song.

Alex: thank you - quite the compliment, indeed. UnJ5 co-produced as well as provided mastering for RAVEN. their team provided a unique perspective to build the atmosphere.

the cans are Audio Technica ATH-M40fs. still wrestling with various listening comps I made over the past 2 days. they were not used during the performance of this track.

again, THX!

Hey Alex,

Thanks for reviewing my song, "Lucky Man". It is the title tune to my 1996 country CD, "Lucky Man".
Lots of fun alternative country songs.

The CD was recorded on tape, so the quality is a wee bit under the current clarity offered my digital recordings..... but still, as you noted, a good song is always a good song.

Thanks, again, Alex.....keep up the good work.

Alex. English ain't Simple (especially for Indians), but I love how Lindsay and all of my favorite Aussies speak it so sweetly that I need a lyric sheet to translate to New England English. But I now have refined my ear to differentiate from Rural Briton to Rural New Zealand. So far, the sweetest English I have ever heard was an Essex, England accent. Like warm treacle spreading over me biscuits. Lovely work! - N

Ha! Nick. How right you are about about English. I was pulled up by some pedant over one of my lyrics, "you better do something or you will never do nothing...". Said it was a 'double-negative'. Thereby meaning a positive! To which I replied with the double positive, "yeah, right!" They do say that the finest, correctly enunciated English is spoken by my fellow countrymen in Inverness.... Enjoy your treacly biscuits my friend!

Hey Alex- Albert Lee? Doesn't get much better. He's a master.. and his great finger style worked perfectly for your song! I got Dan Dugmore to do lap steel on "Shine" and had the same reaction. Just watched in awe. The skill sets of both those guys are off the charts! Mike

Absolutely Mike. What blew me away was how Albert grasped the form of the whole song on one listen and proceeded to play in such a way as to sit under the story as the lyric was being sung, then burst through between the lines with fills and motifs. Not once, from intro to ending, did his music stop or come up for air. Knockout, my friend. My most difficult job on the three passes he gave me on two songs, was comping the best of each pass. What to leave out and what to keep??? There's a reason, I guess, why those men are legends, they just surpass all the hype written about them.

ohhhhh Mike, this is getting embarrassing.... THANK YOU THANK YOU once again for your wonderful full-marks review of my tune Cupid's Graveyard. This is a take that I was most fortunate to grab the great Albert Lee to play on. While my eyes were watching Albert's incredibly able hands, I wasn't watching the meters on the ADAT and a couple of bits of digital distortion crept in. Seems I was able to troubleshoot that and come up with a song that I'm so glad you enjoyed. Thanks again.

Thank you for your kind and positive review of my tune, "Heather Brown". I too live in Melbourne where I run Kellys Sessions we have a FB page. Fellow Broadjam Member, Brian Baker plays there regularly. It would be great if you could make it along one night (I know, Melbourne's a sprawling town) if you don't live too far away from Olinda in the Dandenongs. Please hit us up on Facebook and we can take it from there. Anyway, thanks again for your encouraging review.

Thanks mike AGAIN for your generous and encouraging review of my tune. This time it was, 'WERE YOU TEHRE?' A song I wrote in protest at the Bush, Blair etc, pack of lies about WMD, that justified the Gulf War. Sadly, we are still losing US, British and other troops as this so-called war-on-terror calls now, for the invasion of Iran. Anyway, enough of mine. Back to yours... thank you so much for your enthusiasm for my music.
