I love Broadjam and being able to share music and hear everybody's songs! We are very fortunate to be able to enjoy the gift of music.

Shortly after joining Broadjam in December 2019, I was honored to see my song Wonder Girl hit the top 10 list of Broadjam Folk Americana, peaking at #4.

But the best part is what fun writing songs is! I enjoy the surprise of the different way a song comes to me. Sometimes I fiddle around on the guitar and I stumble onto some chord progressions that sound nice, then it develops into the music for a song. Other times I have awoken from sleep with a melody in my head that I was lucky enough to retain from my slumber. I have written a couple of songs while I was learning a cover, and I strayed off the chords and heard something I liked that became a new song. And one of my tunes was inspired by an argument I had with my wife, an argument I lost, of course!

Hey, Randall. I see you get those 'breaking new ground' sort of comments. It's that "something," the beautifully wistful and haunting melodies you write, of which "Little Bird," "So Far Away," and "Desert Road" are lovely examples that harken back to the days of Joni Mitchell, the Moody Blues, CSNY, but still sound like they were made for today. Thank you for listening to "Sunny Sunday" and the stars. Liliia and Jeana did a wonderful job on that. I think I may get a folkier female vocal for it, too, which will give me the excuse to add some more pop instrumentation that I love to do. John

Very nice melody for Desert Road Randall.
Has an enduring momentum which is enhanced by a complimentary, repeating Chorus?
Musically, Breaking New Ground I'd say!
Humming the melody a good while after hearing it: Always a good sign!
It fully deserves the 5 Stars!
Thanks for 5 Stars for, "Dear Jane"!

Thx Jim. Not sure it's breaking new ground musically, but I'm glad it sounds like it was "catchy" for you. "Dear Jane" is a winner. Best of luck with that song!

Regarding new ground, my melodies are easy to read where they are going, but I reckon yours are more suttle and individual!
