Lullabye For Alexis

Story Behind The Song

As I wrote this lullaby for my little niece, Alexis, I though this would be the perfect opportunity to feature Ron (Velosky) and his style on acoustic bass. "In simplicity lies true genius" was Ron defined during his tragically shortened, but musically rich, life (he died of a brain aneurism at the young age of 43), and what better than a lullaby to illustrate that idea? Since we usually associate "chimes" with a lullaby, I played orchestra bells to help outline the melody. I also composed a string quartet to support Ron's solo section, and so there's some nice string playing by both Ron and Dave (Edwards) in the background as well.
