I Wish That I Could Heal © (#2 BJ: Earth, #1 No Amer, USA )

Story Behind The Song

I was inspired to write this as I watched a good friend endure intense emotional and psychological pain while several dear friends were suffering from terminal diseases. I wished that I had the gift of healing, so I would only need to touch them and heal them and give them another chance and a better life. Sadly, a couple passed, but all their inspirations live on in this song. But, the real source of inspiration was a friend who's life had changed because of a life-changing automobile accident. It was the kind of accident that you would not wish on anyone. Aside from having a great job and wonderful family, he was/is a fine singer and songwriter. This event was a total life changer, but he keeps on plugging away, but it had made it very difficult for him to live the life I know he wants to live. I truly wish I could be one of God's stewards and heal him.

Verse One
In a world of possibilities
There are so many things to be
But, in the glare of harsh realities
There's too much suffering I see
If you gave me just one wish
Only one would work for me
Nothing else could really make much sense
"Cause, Lord, I'd wish that I could heal
I'd wish that I could heal
I'd wish that I could heal

Verse Two
Would you wish that you could fly
To the moon and back?
Or that you could be invisible
Live your life and leave no tracks?
Or that you' d be the most beautiful
And have the world lounge at your feet?
I know I'd pass on all of these
If I could only learn to heal

Chorus
Heal the hatred
Heal the wars
Clean the slates that hold the scores
Heal the health
And all the pain
Heal everything driving us insane
Heal the present
Heal the past
Heal the planet so it will last
Heal the marriage
That on the rocks
Heal the hearts encased in locks
Heal the fears
That hold you back
And help to get your life on track
Heal the governments
And Corporate whores
Who rob us blind
Then lock the doors
Lord, I'll offer a great deal
If You'll help me learn to heal
I'd wish that I could heal

Verse Three
Would you wish for a peaceful world
And a contented heart?
Or give your wish to someone else
And give their lives a brand new start?
Would you help every dream come true
For any person in the world?
You'll do this and so much more
If you'll only learn to heal

Chorus
Heal the hatred
Heal the wars
Clean the slates that hold the scores
Heal the health
And all the pain
Heal everything driving us insane
Heal the present
Heal the past
Heal the planet so it will last
Heal the marriage
That on the rocks
Heal the hearts encased in locks
Heal the fears
That hold you back
And help to get your life on track
Heal the governments
And corporate whores
Who rob us blind
Then lock the doors
Lord, we'll offer a great deal
If You'll teach us all to heal
I wish that we could heal
I wish that we could heal
I wish that we could heal

Like the drums and the beat. Strong Native American feel. Powerful message.

Wow, Quadruple Wow. You floored me with this amazing song. At first when I saw that it was 7+ minutes long, I said, oh no. But you had me entranced from the first few seconds all through this excellently written song...or is it a prayer? I thought the Indian Chant was a cool element (was it a real chant or made up?). The lyrics are phenomenal and the heart with which you sing them is passionate. So often I wish that I could heal like Jesus did and this song put into words what many of us feel. The word pictures and rhymes are perfect, hard-hitting and so inclusive. What human problem didn't you hit on here? I have heard a lot of world peace type songs, but this one would be at the top 3 on my list of favorites, I think. I also must comment on the amazing instrumentation and production in this song. Who played bass? The bottom end just pulled the whole thing together. I definitely want to hear more of your work. Loved the vocals! Let me know if you ever perform in the Jacksonville, FL area. Mrs. Kate in FL.

Nice intro.I love your lyrics. LOVE THE SONG!

I think I know this, I have heard this before and I can only give straight 5's one of my favorite songs of yours.I swear you have me at the first drum beat. The sounds of the Celts and the sounds of the Indian go straight to this heart. I was an Indian in a former life with a wife and child and was happy.
