Story Behind The Song
he he he, ;-) partially true stories all mushed together, mostly from a last minute journey to burning man... but i like having the guy sing it cuz it sounds so deliciously gay. In real life "Flow" was named "Motion"... he wasn't really an artist but he did take us to this totally crazy ramshackle house downtown... it was huge and looking like parts of the exterior had been burned. The previous "tenants" had peed on the floor and scrawled all over the walls, and there was trash and old mutilated toys all over the place. there was a big black gate at the front, guarded wearily by the lecherous 'landlord' who went on and on about his 'big plans' for the place. "Nancy" was a goth chick living in Silverlake... Cool girl, used to take live photos for bands, real easy going. I forget "Corey"'s story, but we met him at the army surplus store and all went shopping together for burning man supplies. then "Flow" took us from place to place all over town to pick up various magical ingredients from his people... fun trip. ;-) oh and btw you should check out that hookah cafe, i love that place.

Lyrics
i broke up with my boy
and i was feelin' kinda down
so i thought i'd take a drive
up to Frisco town
my friends were all busy
in the workaday swing
but i had to get out
i was up for anything
had a shoddy little dodge
but the wheels still rolled
and i didn't really care
if i made it home
so i posted on the internet
'who wants to go?'
i know its kinda weird
butcha never know
after half an hour
there were messages waiting
most for viagra
and internet dating
but there were 3 takers
for the Frisco train
because gas is so expensive these days
...
sometimes you don't know where you're goin'
and nobody cares where you been
the only thing worth knowing
is it is what it is what it is
what it is
what it is
...
so i hit the road
with a number and a phone
i forgot my clothes
cuz i was already stoned
but by the time i remembered
i had driven too long
so i just said 'fuck it'
at least i've got clean panties on
one was a guy named Flow
an artist with a show
said he'd meet me down on melrose
by the hookah cafe,
you know the one
where you can stay and smoke
after the doors are closed?
next there was Nancy
who joked about Sid
she had 10 piercings
and a little kid
there were dragon tattoos
on her ankles and her wrists
...
sometimes you don't know where you're goin'
and nobody cares where you been
the only thing worth knowing
it is what it is
in the end nothing really matters
and nobody ever really wins
so why worry
it is what it is what it is
...
we headed up to Hollywood
to pick up Corey
he was waiting outside
the army surplus store
he bought a burner
to cook some smores
for a month long hike
in the great outdoors
nancy said, 'hey man,
what's your story?'
'well i used to be an actor,
but it got kinda boring
pills and thrills
and smacked up whores
i never really knew
what life was for
until one morning
woke up on the floor
with angels banging down my door
they showed me
the scientological ways of the Lord
and ever since
I've been reborn'
...
sometimes you don't know where you're goin'
and nobody cares who you been
the only thing worth knowing
is it is what it is what it is
nothing really matters in the end
and nobody ever really wins
so why worry
it is what it is what it is
what it is
what it is
what it is
...
then we went downtown
to pick up some paintings
in a big old house
Flow was raving about
we finally got there
and the place was all dark
except for christmas lights
and flamingos in the yard
there was trash everywhere
and pee on the stairs
i wondered who else
was living there
a few jack and cokes
and i wasn't scared
we lit up smokes
and played truth or dare
we laughed for hours
and woke up the ghosts
Flow was quite the grand
game show host
tomorrow off to Frisco
but we didn't care
we had a gay old time
playing truth or dare
...
sometimes you don't know where you're goin'
and nobody cares where you been
the only thing worth knowing
is it is what it is what it is
what it is
what it is
