Story Behind The Song

I was sleeping with a pretty girl who would later become my wife...and I had always believed that our actions together should have been saved for the marriage bed, but i wanted to do what I wanted to do when i wanted to do it--so i did. I would pray for forgiveness over and over, until it felt like I was just looking out for my own interests all the time--sex when I want, forgiveness when I want, etc. Carte Blanche is a blank check, referring to the concept that all sins are paid for--and I felt like an abuser of the privilege.

Song Description

Carte Blanche means blank check...and the idea of Christian forgiveness is often used to cover over a multitude of behaviors as if the person had a card in his pocket, simply charging his sins to his grace account, paid in the blood of Christ. This light-hearted, family oriented concept is the soul of "Carte Blanche".
