Thanks for your review of my song happiness. Kind words. Thank you. Comfortably Numb reference made my day!
Thanks for the review and kind words for 'breaking my back.' Appreciated.
Swear to god I did not see you guys have identified Muse as an influence. That's a compliment. Also reminds me of this old brit band called 'bluetones.' Cheers.
Hey, Thanks! All my favorite bands and biggest influences were and are UK Bands. To know that the influence is shining through is a HUGE compliment! I'm Loving your sound as well. Thanks for reaching out. Nathan Luttrell-Guitarist/songwriter for PLVNET
Thanks for your review on 'oxygen.' Your music totally rocks!! Comfortably Numb...are you kidding me? Loved it!! Epic (purposely using that word). Very well polished music you guys have. Love the british influence on your music. Old and new. Parts of the music reminded me of Muse...among other talented sounds. Great job. Seriously, sick.
Thanks for your great review on 'Oxygen.' made us write a few more! Cheers. Like your music...very easy to absorb.
Very welcome, great track, just listened to it again! Glad you like mine also :)
Thanks for your nice review. Cheers. I enjoyed Slums...more tracks coming?
Great pop quality. reminds me why i loved matthew sweet. Infectious.
I just reviewed a song and it submitted without the ratings by accident. Sorry. But I added my thoughts.
No worries. I appreciate you reviewing, and I'm glad you liked my music.
"Life will bring us hope" Very cool / unique song! Nice vocals... Instrumentations are amazing... The style/ vocals gave me a "U2" vibe.. Let's connect... Many Blessings... Julia Schmidt
That's a voice.
Great Songs!!
Thanks so much!
Thank you for the nice review of our tune, MAN IN TROUBLE. I listened again to our recording, bearing in mind your comment about the guitar being out of tune in spots. The only thing I can think of is you may be referring to times that I bent a string. That's a purposeful technique, but it may have sounded like the instrument was not tuned.
I must have been drunk? Great song.
In my review of your song "Time to Wake up" I wrote the name of the song should be Make up. Haha. That was a typo. I meant Wake up. Made me smile, so I had to leave a comment.
Aww thanks. All made up now. Thanks :-)
Hi there, my review of your song "We Belong Together" got submitted without scores by accident. Sorry! My overall impression of the song was good. As I mentioned in the review, I always enjoy when a new band makes me feel like I am listening to aspects of other great bands I enjoy. Good work.
OK, well as you said sorry about the Layne comparison, I will apologize for the Bono one Im making...lolol!!!
Haha. Thanks!
Love the Modest Mouse feeling I get from this track. Great.
thanks a lot. I appreciate it. funny, though, I never would have made that connection
Thanks for your honest review of "Things have got to change." Constructive feedback is so welcomed! Thanks.
Thank you sir for the review of "Things have got to change." Your review captured what we wanted the listener to get. Greatly appreciate your feedback.
My Pleasure. Best of Luck Geoff
Appreciate the feedback on "Things have got to change." Thanks for taking the time to listen.
Thanks for your kind review of "Contemplative". If you're serious about adding a vocal maybe we can collaborate sometime!
Mr. Sharp, I would be honoured to collaborate with you on something. The most representative of my singing would be my tracks "Life will bring us hope" and " Moving on." Of your music (which is all very impressive) I think your ambient electronic style music would be the best match for my style. I write tunes that are usually dark and melancholic with a pop sensibility. I have put in a request to follow you and once added, I will send you a follow up message through mail. Thanks!
Thanks for your review of my song "Life (will bring us hope)." It always great when people take the time to really provide good feedback. Very helpful and much appreciated.
Hi Rodney, thanks for your review of my song "movin' on without you." I'm a Canadian who lives in Vancouver, but I lived in Springfield, MO for almost 5 years to attend school there. Nice to hear from someone down in that neck of the woods!! Take care.
Thanks! What school did you attend? There are a ton in Springfield.
I went to a small graduate school for clinical psychology called Forest Institute. Do you play live in the Branson area? I know it is the city for music in that area.
Hi Cole. Appreciate you reviewing my song Life (will bring us hope). I was surprised you thought it was world music! Glad you enjoyed it, but would love to hear your specific critiques if you find the time.
You have reviewed a few of my songs and provided very useful feedback. It's nice when people take the time to articulate their positive, but more importantly, constructive criticisms. Also, I enjoy your sounds!
I noticed on your Bio that youv'e not been recording for a number of years, Same here. I'm hoping to start up again soon. Have you already started? I understand the frustration,, but remember the stuff youv'e done. I'm loving it.
Tie is the big thing for me. Wish I took more advantage of my free time earlier, but you live and learn. Between work, a 2 year old son, and family life, music is more of a luxury than anything. I recently bought an apple laptop and got Logic Pro which has been amazing and helped me catch up to today's standards quite quickly. My previous experience were tascam 4 track recorders :)
Thanks for the kind words - and too bad about the canuckleheads this year ....
Yes, too bad for Vancouver again this year. Hey, your bio says that ironman triathalons are a hobby for you. Doug, that is not a hobby...it's a lifestyle. Congrats.
Hello! Thank you so much for your kind review of Only Human. It's much appreciated! You have a great sound and vibe! Sound is reminiscent of Neil Finn, my favorite singer! Thanks again! ~d
I never got a chance to reply earlier. Neil Finn is definitely someone I admire! Thanks.
Hi Vinnie, and thanks for the review of my song 'Life (will bring us hope).' I appreciate your encouragement. I have been listening to your stuff and love it! So many of the bands I have loved over the years flash before my eyes: Elton John, The Beatles, Older Bee Gees, Belle & Sebastian, Ramones, Beach Boys, I could go on and on. Really enjoy your melodies and ways of singing songs. Very creative. I love the 70's recording style vibe I get. Keep up the excellent work!!!
Hi Robert, Thanks for reviewing my song "Life (will bring us hope)." You mentioned it was a tough song to review and gave good reasons. I was wondering what you would suggest to push it to the side of 'epic brilliance' rather than 'putting listeners to sleep.' Thanks!
I looked back at my review and listened to the song again. I'm sorry I wasn't more thorough with that. To clarify, I wasn't suggesting that your tune is putting listeners to sleep, but rather that the kind of song with a very slow bpm (I didn't check it, but guessed around 50) is ambitious but tough to pull off, because, in my view, you're probably going for a big atmospheric feel, or something along the lines of a drifting vibe that might be found in Electronic Chill music. I noticed that you listed as "similar artist" The Cowboy Junkies. What makes them great? I think it's Margo Timmons ability to take the listener to another world with her attitude and phrasing, while her brother (I think it's her brother, if I remember correctly) lays down some guitar backing that is strangely familiar yet rides on the edge of dissonance (in some cases, anyway). I think you captured some of this in the vocal. Since you asked about what I think it needs to push to epic brilliance; I'll venture more opinion: If you're going with that slow moving feel, a few things might help, like a grander sound. An orchestra might help (of course, that's not exactly your direction here), but otherwise some instrumentation that provides an ethereal feel, like a floating vibe or shimmer. This is where it becomes a little difficult to describe sound and "vision" of how I, or you, might apply it. Take the guitar bit that comes in at 1:55, though. If that were to have a tone that would cut through a little more and have some delay on it, perhaps to provide atmosphere, that might go a long way in supporting the vocal feel. Again, it's a tough game with this, because you need to "build" a significant sound there, but it probably needs to retain some simplicity. Brian Eno's Small Craft on a Milk Sea comes to mind (heard any of that?). Simple tones but the way they are conditioned takes the listener to that other world, which, as I see it, is what you're shooting for with this. That kind of song is very ambitious, by nature, and I respect you for going after that. Otherwise, you could use some other devices like variation in patterns or "colors" that evolve throughout the song to keep it fascinating at that slow bpm, but that's also a challenge because, from what I hear, one of your best aspects is the hypnotic vibe that doesn't hold on so well as you move into Polka mode. Sorry these thoughts were a little disjointed; partly a stream of consciousness thing, and partly my trying to dance around being presumptuous about being in a position to offer such "advice," but since you asked...
Great follow up to my question. Actually makes a lot of sense thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to be so thorough. Cheers.
Thanks, Todd. I'm ready to begin salary negotiations with RS on this. However it would probably have to be for the "retro" edition, because when I look at the "Charts" I'm not familiar with half of the artists.
You're welcome, and thank you, Love & Fire. I was a little long winded on that, but after looking at my original review where I really didn't flesh out my thoughts very comprehensively, I wanted to take a shot at it...
Jeff thanks for your review of "throw down your love." Glad you like the song and yes, the recording/mixing is poor. As soon as I have time, I plan to take a Youtube crash course and clean up my songs. Thanks again!
Thanks for the review on "Throw down your love." Same problem, I know. I am only 6 months into using a DAW to record. Still very amateur. But I hope to learn as much as I can, and then record and mix better. Overall, I'm happy that people are liking the songs, even if every single review I've received complains about my mix and muddiness...it can only go up from here! Thanks again.
We got lucky. Leslie has always used cubase. We recently joined forces with a very experience production engineer who move to our little town on the Sea of Cortez. He installed some new gear and taught Leslie their finer points. We mix and he masters our recordings. It has made a huge difference in the response we have been getting to our material.
