Tom Green- composer

Tom Green has co-written tunes on most albums by seminal world class 'ambient house' pioneers THE ORB, and has produced two critically acclaimed albums under the nom-de-plume ANOTHER FINE DAY, both firm favourites with UK chill-out supremos THE BIG CHILL, where AFD has performed annually since 1994. A third AFD album is in preparation.

Tom has worked with a wide variety of musicians, including the Forest People of Cameroon (with BAKA BEYOND), award-winning gaelic dance pioneers HYPERBOREA, African guitar maestros OMAR SOW and ABDUL T-J, and leading classical players THE DUKE QUARTET. He also contributes sonic textures to ORB colleague and apollomusic.co.uk composer Simon Phillips' project PRAYERBOX.

2005 saw the launch of Tom's own record label ANOTHERFINELABEL, plaudits arriving for the debut release (a re-issue of the first AFD album, "Life before Land") from The Guardian and DJ magazine, with the Independent rating it 3rd in their "all time best ambient albums" list. The AFD EP "Chasing Tornadoes" showed Tom's genre-straddling capabilities by achieving airplay on both BBC's Radio 1 and BBC Radio 3, with playlist status on a number of digital streaming providers in Europe. Further info, audio files, and CD sales available at   www.anotherfinelabel.co.uk or pick up mp3s at iTunes and all good digital outlets.

Custom music and sound design

Tom's custom music clients include the BBC, Channel 4, and RTE, recent commissions requiring 'Ealing comedy orchestral music' (this documentary was included on Universal's re-issue of Ealing films on DVD), 'wacky lounge music', and 'one hour's worth of completely ambient, but not boring, music...' You can also find his work on the BMG Atmosphere music library, and very soon on Jon Tye's LO Recordings label. 2006 will also see the release, on HS Recordings, of a sound art collaboration, composed with artist and filmmaker David Bickley, and to be used in a number of his installations in Eire.
