Featured with Tech N9ne, David Cook, Kid Rock and many others... this young midwest emcee stands as a breath of fresh air among a stagnant hip-hop scene. Fusing pop and hip-hop elements with aggressive delivery and lyricism, Steven Cooper has been captivating multiple genres of music lovers around the globe.
With over 500 concerts and more than a million streams online, Coop is known as one of the hardest working indies in the business and continues to grow his fanbase one person at a time without the help of a major label. I am Steven Cooper
What began as a bet among classmates to see who could write the best rap song, would eventually blossom into a full-time career for the talented Steven Cooper.
"The road hasn't been an easy one", explains Cooper. After many false starts and failed deals, the emcee eventually decided to do things his own way. "Breaking free from my agreements allowed me chose my own destiny and build my following through a connection with my fans. There's no corporate giants, no glitz and glamour, it's built on making good music that spreads love among people."
Cooper's fanbase has proved to be a force to reckon with. After breaking most of the formula's in the industry, the rapper has seen nothing but growth in his sales (often person to person), his merch, and touring which boasts over 500 live shows to date all independently booked and promoted.
Cooper is now hard at work on his debut album 'My Time'. An album filled with creativity, positive vibes, and stellar production from well-known producers of the underground. A few producers include Sean Divine (Jadakiss, Lords Of The Underground), Mad Skrews (Gucci Mane, Jagged Edge, Trina) and Kid Flash.
The debut single 'Maybe Tonight' is a glimpse into the diversity of this record. A song inspired by long-distant love, delivered with a poetic touch, isn't something you'd expect to find on a typical 'rap' album. But that's what kind of album this is. Other songs such as 'Who We are' and the title track 'My Time', show that this wordsmith can hold his own against some of the best emcee's in the game.
This unique sound coupled with impressive rhyming skills and depth of lyricism are the key to the rappers buzz. His mainstream appeal has begun to catch listener's ears and helped the artist garner fans in an array of genres, all while staying true to the hip-hop platform he is known to thrive on. If you've been anxious for a turn in the hip-hop music of today, Steven Cooper might just be the artist for you.
