Studio session coming up soon to put down some new originals!
Take a little Emmylou and mix it with some Roseanne Cash, a bit of blues from Ms. Raitt, a little bit of sass from Tina Turner, and the rawest hillbilly twang you can find in the North Georgia Mountains....Shake it all up...and you get....Shelia Quattlebaum. Her voice has been described as "earthy, silk gravel, very real."
Shelia was born and raised in S.E. Alabama. Her parents bought her an acoustic guitar at age 10, and she taught herself how to play. By age 13, she was part of a local show, "The Leo Suiter Show," and traveled and performed in the Tri-State area. She's had her own bands, and in the 90s was half of a highly-desired female duo called "Heart Over Mind" who played the Vegas circuit and traveled and performed cross-country. The duo split after 4 years, and Shelia moved back to the South. Shelia later teamed up with a great band called, "Square One," where she played acoustic guitar and bass and did lead vocals. For the past six years, she has been focusing on her songwriting and performing at singer-songwriter venues, including THE place for songwriters, The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN.
Shelia is currently finishing up a CD project with another great writer. Look for her name and performances this year, 2010..she will be performing solo and with a duo/band called "Applewood."
