Story Behind The Song
I wrote this tune influenced by the Tony Williams album "Civilization". Tony always had a certain way of playing straight eighth note tunes that had this propulsion that was unparalleled. I had written the tune(again without a title) and a student of mine said that it sounded like some sort of "black magic" tune. He then told me that the Portugese name for "black magic" was "Macumba". I have to admit, I never checked up to see if he was right. I sure hope so. It makes some sort of story nonetheless.
