Mama said "What about the earthquakes?",
Daddy said, "How much will it take?
Do you have enough to make it there, son?"
He handed me some goin' away cash,
And we all hugged and cried and laughed,
I was about to run as far as I could run.
Look at all the people who've left here, there ain't too many,
But I close my eyes and visualize the left coast land of plenty.

chorus
In L.A.--it's the city of angels and the ghosts of wannabe's.
In L.A.--it's the place to get anything that your little heart can dream.
They've got of sinners and winners, poets and singers,
If it's not real, they just use smoke and mirrors,
You can't believe what you see and hear every day,
In L.A.

Ain't got no misconceived notion,
Money don't wash up from the ocean,
Fame don't grow on trees and it's easy to get the blues.
Makes me wonder, will I get my break?
Just how long they're gonna make me wait,
And will I earn enough to survive, much less pay my dues?
Waiting tables, parking cars or mowing some wealthy widow's yard,
The road to riches ain't on tourist maps and finding it's so hard,

chorus repeated

bridge
That pot o' gold ain't waitin' at the Rainbow Grill,
There's a big sign peekin' callin' out my name through the mansions in the hills,
Sunset Blvd. ain't just another road.
And even when it's sunny, you know it can snow.
You wanna stand out, but you still have to go with the flow.

final chorus
In L.A.--it's the land of angels and the ghosts of wannabe's.
In L.A.--it's the place to get anything that your little heart can dream.
They've got sinners and winners. poets and singers.
If it's not real, they just use smoke and mirrors,
Can't let 'em see ya sweat and show no fear if you're gonna stay,
In L.A. (repeat line into fade out)

Excellent work on this piece. Reminiscent arrangement of Steely Dan mid 70s, but with better vocals. Cool beans

I like great bluesy vocals. The arrangement is nice and smooth. The placement of the guitar licks are right on. This has a nice modern blues sound. The song has a nice tempo. The lyrics express the West Coast experience very well. Nice job. Keep up the good work.

Nice..I like it
Good vocal for sure, catchy chorus that Donald would be proud of
Like the snare sound
Well done you!
Have a bunch of 5s

Good lyrics and great singer. Also an excellent guitar tone.
