Recoil

Story Behind The Song

I melded the main synth bass with a bit tom tom drum while fooling around, and it had such a compelling sound that I thought it would "float" a number of other tracks. I think it worked. The use of a harp line was just a spark, an odd thing to use in a synth song. I love big choral vocals, and tried to make them a little dissonant and scary at the end for the final "breakdown".

Song Description

This song follows "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" on the cd, and is meant to be an aural look into the mind of a shocked soldier, and metaphorically that can be any modern day "soldier" (you name the war). The big synth bass pulse is to carry the listener along. The harp is to add a counterbalance of ephemeral hope & possible cheer in a landscape of ruin and uncertainty.
