Story Behind The Song
A flip thing I wrote while riding L.A.'s Metrolink train for three years. Displays my angst about having to endure the L.A. freeways. (7th & Figueroa is the heart of the financial district). You have lots of time to think, read, and write on a train and so I managed to get this done. This tune got a "track of the day" on Garageband.com in 2006.
Song Description
I'm not much of a jazz player but this gets a little close I hope. The guitar breaks sprinkled throughout try to keep it nailed down firmly in the blues vein. Also tried to give the guitars a nice "slidey" feeling, which I think worked.

Lyrics
I'm taking the Blue Line
I'm watching that train time
I'm off on the railway, driving it's a crime
There're clouds on a Monday
sun comes out Friday
doesn't matter as long as I ain't on that?highway
Screaming along on that two railed street
it's eight a.m. got me a window seat
L.A. freeway, it's unkind
train's got it over those?white lines
I'm closing my eyes
or looking through shades at the sky
looking over that downtown style
honey show me one of those downtown smiles
track switchin' down on the river-side
dreamin? on that double-decker ride
can I talk you into walkin' slower
on your way to 7th & Figueroa?
Draggin? onto that north ride
5:40 on track five
You can keep your bleedin? four-wheel eight-lane dive
I?m a Red Line survivor, a five a.m. riser
tomorrow I?ll be waitin? again, for that? Blue Line
