Story Behind The Song
Co-writer Rick Misencik had a friend who's son had returned from Iraq after being injured in a road side bomb attack. He was having post tramatic stress as alot of veterans are and Rick decided to tell his story O got the song right before a vacation and spent it working on the song I wanted it to be a hard driven, intense, rock song to fullfill the feeling that this man was facing. Being a county artist I found the oportunity to make this song a crossover song to mix rock and country in a hard rock sense.

Lyrics
verse 1
to break the silence he sleeps with his T.V. on
most nights he'll toss and turn till dawn
he re-lives every moment his squad led
he's home from iraq but he;s not back yet
verse 2
he still smells the sulfur from that explosive device
he cries for his buddy's who lost their lives
he's got a purple heart scares inside his head
he's home from Iraq but he's not back yet
chorus
he's back home but his mind is still in the sand
fightin' demons his friends don't understand
he wont talk about it and he drinks to forget
he's home from Iraq but he's not back yet
verse 3
he sees the doctor at the VA every week
cause the pills that they gave him don't give no relief
he's living through the past hangin' by a thread
he's home from Iraq but he's not back yet
solo
refrain chorus
verse 4
he wont talk about it he drinks to forget
he's home from Iraq but he's not back yet
