Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song back in 1998 and always liked it. I would come back to it now and then and kept playing it acoustically... but I like what we have done with it as a full band now. It's a different kind of song with a southwestern feel to it and we've found either people love it or they hate it. I think the guitar work Josh C does on this is fantastic especially the couple guitar solos towards the end... Josh J also has some great bgvs on this song and I like the tom thing Brian does at the beginning... lyrically it is about a couple going through some rocky times... but there is a determination to make the relationship work and simply refuse to give up... --Brian Weber

Lyrics
Refusal
(Brian Weber ? 5/98)
And I remember that day
And I remember your face
As you stood there and cried in the rain
And I?ve seen that look before
And I can?t take this anymore
We just stand here and cry in the rain
As it drenches our lives melt away
I refuse to take this lying down
I decline to be swallowed by the clouds
I know what lies beyond these clouds
There is a light beyond those clouds
Why do you cry
At the thoughtless things I do
The tears that you cry
Wash away parts of you
I know that you have your doubts
But there is a light beyond these clouds
I know
The energy?s already been spent
But please don?t
Don?t give up we?re not finished yet
?Cause you and I we know better now
We survived the blood sweat of our brow
I know what lies beyond the clouds
There is a light beyond those clouds
