Story Behind The Song
I wrote this when I was hanging out in the music department of my university, awaiting Basic Nutrition class. A hundred people passed through the halls in the course of an hour, and I was struck by them. I decided to ditch class and write a song about the power and impact we have as people - to touch other lives for better or worse, and how important it is to reach out to those around you.
Song Description
Everyday we pass people who we believe have no direct impact on our lives. Yet they do. But there is still an invisible, tangible distance we keep from the strangers around us. Yet, when we get to know someone - we become completely invested in their live

Lyrics
FORMER STRANGER
Verse 1
People move they move like entities past me
I question why their faces are obscure once seen
A friend?s a former stranger and this stranger could alter me
Well I was born to perforate the part of people that no one sees
But I live life like a paint-by-number drawing that
Friends and lovers pick colors to stain and polish as they please
Chorus
So I?d like to rectify my days
Cause I want to shuffle through like they do
Verse 2
Maybe I?m the one that?s stranger still
I can?t help but want to see the shades you do
So let me have your eyes and know the scenes that are your life
Well I am heir to the human tradition
Our contribution and detriments
But I?m still finding while being open-minded
One must learn to soon avert their eyes from those who?ll gladly seize you
Foster care to something their that you have birthed brand new
Chorus
Bridge
In an unseen dance between the plants and my wanting lungs
The air moves in and the air moves out
This is how I choose to live my days
Holding fast holding true
That knowing you has improved me it has improved me knowing you will improve me
