Story Behind The Song
I was walking along the beach, when I was asked by a man passing by if sail boats had anchors. Perplexed by this strange question - i told him that yes, all boats had anchors, or they would be unable to dock in the middle of the ocean. It was a cold night, and i was walking with a friend who I wanted to talk to, but couldn't find the right words to use. As we walked I got the line "everytime I open my mouth, my tongue lays like an anchor in the sea" in my head. And presto, a song was born.

ANCHOR
Verse 1
Every time I open my mouth my tongue lays like an anchor in the sea
A foreign thing that rest unseen
The most overworked muscle in my body
Chorus
And hear I fear I?ve squandered my quota of words
All these years and for what? I can?t be sure anyone?s heard me
Now all I want to do is talk to you but my jaw is weak
I want to spread my lips and let my voice leak out tonight
Verse 2
I like to live any place but the present
Cause days past and to come lack dimension
They?re flat like the surface of water in a glass
That never feels the world?s motion disturb it
Chorus
And hear I fear I?ve lived my whole life in my head
With so little to show for time and the energy exerted and spent
Now all I want to do is feel something bold
Gain some perspective ? I want to swim in some hard emotions
I can?t stand surreal tonight
