Wow thanks Julia, I only found out I was in the top 20 a few days ago because I would click on the finishing 40 instead of Steinberg finals ha ha!. So got quite a surprise there. Awesome you made top 10 too. I've never got near this far, so yeah we'll see how it goes. My recording gear and laptop with pro tools is broken and not working at the moment and I haven't been able to do anything for the past 6 months or more, so be cool to get something but I'm not expecting to get any further than this amongst these great writers. Hey Malcolm, Thanks man. I finally got to hear a few of your songs. Amazing tracks and playing. I can hear the hours of practise. Love the emotion of them. Cool you signed a track too for a doc. I have had 152 pitches so far with no track ever making it onto anything. So yeah, I think I hold some kind of fail record here on Broadjam ha ha!. I dig Irish music both folk and punk and even have tried to learn the bodran but probably love the haunting whistle the most. I think they used it in the "Lord Of The Rings" and it was an amazing carrier of emotion. Anyway cheers again
Thanks a lot Lindsay (and for the 5 stars). I think having the songs mixed by someone else to a pro standard makes a big difference. I've been trying to do it myself up until now but I've realised it doesn't really work. I think you have had Crazy Yeah It's Love re-mixed/mastered recently? Like in my comment above, it sounds completely different now. I was looking at the opportunities and saw that they are looking for a song for a Gap commercial. Straight away I thought to myself that your song would fit that perfectly. When you submit the pitch have it start at the chorus, I would be absolutely amazed if it wasn't considered! what an interesting and supportive community we reside in. many of our citizens show support through playlist adds and stars. sometimes it is hard to keep up with all that each of us shares. C.C., Abram Band, Julia, N.Jones, Donovan and so many more are all associated with the reason to continue residing here with music as our roof and foundation. someone outside of the community recently asked me why do I do it? what is my motivation to pursue a human endeavor that requires relentless dedication while seemingly there is no promise of reward? that answer is quite simple: I can't help myself and I don't care to be cured. I was born with music in my soul. I hear music in both my wakeful and sleeping hours. music has been the most steadfast of companions and has never abandoned me even when I have sold a guitar or a microphone to pay some bills. and, I hope that one day, the music I have expressed, that has allowed me to be a portal, will survive long past my time here on this dusty rock, as well as here in this community of ours. please know that I am so very proud and grateful to call you my family in music. Great synopsis Peter. I just tell people that, "I'm crazy.............................. ....about music". Plus, I think some people are just born natural troubadours. More so, I have a theory. A bit of a mind-blowing theory that I share with people who are wondering who God is or don't believe in God....and I say a GREAT example of God's presence is to think of each and every human being's living experience experienced through our eyes, ears, touch, smell and taste....and put them ALL together and that is just the "first table" of God making himself known to those who stop and ponder these things. Songwriters are part of this process as we are inspired to capture these experiences and put music and lyrical dictation to them. Hi Lindsay, Haven't heard from you for a good while. Hoping you are doing well. Yes 250 tracks! But lets be honest, there are only a handful of classics here! Ha! I have seen one or two listings at Hitlicense that would be good for some of your great tunes, you should check it out. Most of the people are production companies or producers (not libraries) so you keep all the rights/publishing etc. to your work. That means you are free to sign a record deal even though your work is in films and commercials. I'm probably telling you something you already know! Anyway, good to hear from you! Hey David, we talked a few years ago about a deal we both were offered through bjam. Was wondering what your thoughts are on pump audio/ getty images audio. Do you use them to?
Hi Adam, Yes I have a handful of tracks with Pump/Getty. It would be a good site if they didn't take soooooo long to review tracks. 10 months on average! How pathetic is that! I prefer Audiosparx. Now there is a more helpful and realistic company than Pump and once they have accepted your work, you're allowed to upload your music immediately without their A&R team interfering. I got my first commercial thru Audiosparx and still getting my music placed in various situations every few months. Have you checked them out?
