Lyrics

In a faraway town
For a rodeo crown
He leaves her lonely to follow his dream
To ride as the rodeo king

In the house by the rose
As the shades are pulled closed
She calls "hey, Jimmy"
But there's no one to hear
So she goes to bed, wiping a tear

Jimmy come back to the house by the rose
The one that we planted on the night you proposed
But glimpses of spotlight that shine through the dust
Jimmy, these are the prize of your lust

With a rose on his shirt
Jimmy fell to the dirt
Last thing he saw as he fell to the ground
Was the spotlight that shined on his crown

He was thrown from his throne
With a fancy shirt on
Doctor declares with a 1AM call
"..guess every king has to fall"

Alone she screams
Jimmy come back to the house by the rose
The one that we planted on the night you proposed
But glimpses of spotlight that shine through the dust
Jimmy, these are the prize of your lust

In the morning she stared out the window
Because the rose had been stolen away
She ran to call but the phone rang instead
To say the rodeo champion was dead

Her heart cry's out
Jimmy come back to the house by the rose
The one that we planted on the night you proposed
But glimpses of spotlight that shine through the dust
Jimmy, these are the prize of your lust

What's not to like ! Great storytelling , loved it .

Beautiful and effective vocals and storytelling. The band is rock-solid as well, and the overall song is nearly flawless. Well done across the board.

Very nice track, great vocals, arrangement and recording. I really enjoyed the lyrics and enjoyed listening. Very good job!

Very well structured. Nice job

Good current contemporary country sound. Nice recording and nice harmonies.

I love this story song. My favorite kind of country song. Last thing he saw was the spotlight shining on his crown - perfect for the contrast of risk/fame. The vocals and instrumentation are wonderful. Love the arrangement. I hope to hear this song on the radio!

This is a very pretty song and you sang it with emotion and it connected. I love the story telling country songs.Very pretty.

Wonderful vocal and lyric.
