THE BEST SONGS ARE AT THE TOP AND WORK DOWN SUBJECT TO YOUR FAVORITE GENRES. Mike Cantwell is a songwriter, composer, musician, and does home studio recording. Mike stays on the cutting edge of creativity and current music as well as having created classic songs. His goal is to have (at least) 3 pieces of music used in Film and TV. Mike creates music in Pop, Rock, Country, Soundtracks, Smooth Jazz, and many other genres. He is open to collaborating with others and creating music using TalentEast Productions. Named so for the Talent on the East Coast. Mike Cantwell lives in "the land of pleasant living" on the Delmarva (DELaware, MARyland, VirginiA) Peninsula on the East Coast between the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
Prior to joining Broadjam, Mike entered national and world songwriting contests and has received 21 songwriting awards for lyrics and for music. Mike had lyrics printed in American Songwriter magazine lyric contest.

Mike often experiments to create new sounds and new techniques to be unique. Mike often takes drums and instruments from various genres and mashes them together for a new sound. Mike has a love of the guitar and uses the Roland GR-55 Guitar Synthesizer to play grand piano, trumpet, saxophone, violin, cello, and many, many other instruments. Mike writes, sings, and plays all the instruments on the tracks recorded in his home recording studio, except for 3 that were studio vocalists. And, he has co-wrote with others and used Nashville demo services, too. Mike is open to trying anything musically.

Giving thanks to Broadjam for the opportunities, Mike has had two songs briefly in the Earth Top 10 on Broadjam, which is no easy feat. Mike has been fortunate enough to have over 30 songs "Selected" for use in Film, TV, & Ads.
To quote Michael "Mike" Hanson Cantwell,
"I am a Songwriter. I have the power of music to put life into mere words. To create magic. To touch people. To move people emotionally or move people to dance, I am a songwriter." -Mike Cantwell

Hey, I just saw your review of ZPD. Thanks for the props!

The note slide is a simple thing to do, but depending on how your DAW works (assuming you are working strictly "in-the-box"), it might prove obtrusive to figure out. For me, I use FL Studio 20, and I simple layer one midi note above the other on the piano roll. The key, though, is to enable the "slide" function by clicking on the note you desire to slide up/down to. It looks like an isosceles triangle. So the result will be a slide/pitch bend that the channel plays back/records.

You could similarly pitch bend the note by recording that parameter as an automation clip when recording your playback. So if you had a fader, knob, or mod wheel that is linked to the pitch of the note, you could achieve the same effect, and have even more physical control over the expression of the note's playback.

This is just how I would do it any FL Studio, but it should work in theory for any DAW or even DI instrument you are recording.

Thanks for sharing. I went back and listened, and you should be able to make some money off that ZPD music! I still like that freeform slide part. I'll try what you say. Good luck with your music!

Congratulation on your many successes. You are one of the most likely to be Selected. Update, I just went through more BJ results by this provider and they selected 1 song (Considered no other songs). One song was selected out of an even 580 songs for 9 opportunities. So far the odds are .0017

Although I'm a big fan of Broadjam and they have helped boost my career in leaps and bounds, you do get the occasional charlatan (or should I say unprofessional) Music Of The Sea is an example, I first dealt with them 3 years ago when he asked for a dozen tracks of mine but when i sent them via Dropbox he never downloaded them? And six months ago he requested several more track (unexclusive) only to discover the contract stated EXCLUSIVE? and a week ago Broadjam got in touch to congratulate me on several tracks chosen for a library? He sent a link saying follow the link and they will send a contract so I did but the link failed? The link was to "Music Of The Sea" (lol). Their website looks good but I have no idea what they are playing at? All the best to you! David
