Story Behind The Song
I wrote this song in response to all the mediated images surrounding love and marriage. There is an expectation that exists in western society regarding how marriage should "be"; how it should look and feel. It's full of cliches. So many people I know try to live up to that image and find themselves unable to manage. Marriages dissolve because people think it's supposed to be like the movies. I wanted to expose those cliches and expectation as false an unrealistic by comparing the idea or expectation of love to nothing more than a plastic roll of film. The idea of love is contrived.
Song Description
Ideal Love is a song about rejecting the mediated social images, ideas, expectations surrounding marriage. The song uses cameras, film, and pictures as a metaphor to deliver the message.

Lyrics
Ideal Love
I think this idea of love
that everyone talks about
is a piece of film
I can put these images on it
but it's nothing more
than a roll of plastic
This idea of love
is only an ideal
Where do we fit
In the picture?
I think that love is more like a road
that your making up on your own
Especially if there's been no one
to share their special lens
This idea of love
is only an ideal
Where do we fit
In the picture?
And how many
Pictures do we get?
All we have
is all that we've seen
and that's not real
I don't even know anymore
I don't even care anymore
About this thing
they like to call love.
