Many years ago, I went through a divorce. There was a child produced by the marriage, and when I got remarried and tried to move on with my life, my ex sued me for custody of my son. About that same time, my ex was diagnosed with stage IV melanoma. I found myself conflicted in my feelings, cause I really hated him and wanted to really wish him dead, but he was already dying. This song was written to help me make sense of my feelings. What does it mean to wish death on a dying man.
