Invincible

Story Behind The Song

I wrote this song to convince myself to keep going. I'd moved to Seattle and was 600 miles from home. My car was broken down and I had no money to fix it. I was so poor I was on the verge of homelessness - sleeping on the floor in a closet because I didn't have a bed, and the night before I received a phone call where one of my friends told me of the tremendous success of some of our high school classmates. I began to question whether I had chosen the right path, and wrote this song at the moment that I realized that I would never give up. The track was recorded live off the board during a benefit concert at EMP's Sky Church in Seattle.

Song Description

A rocking hick-hop song about believing that you will persevere even after hitting bottom. The verses are delivered in a rapid rap-sing style reminiscent of Cowboy Troy, exploding into a big harmony-filled chorus.

Lyrics

Hey there, what you up to now
You got a new job, well take a bow
How does your sellout settle with your self
What's that you ask, what's up with me
Well I ain't got much that you can see
But the future, it looks promising because where there's hope that's where I'll be

I am invincible

No money no close no food no car
You sense my dreams went a little too far
No time to dwell on questions I'm afraid
With a little luck and time to duck
We'll make it through so what the...hey
you can have your opinion
Just keep it out of my way

CHORUS
Invincible, Invincible
How could I be outdone it was so simple
World laid out before me
I let it go 'cause it bored me
Now I'm dreaming about my day

You can question my philosophy
If you want to veg that's fine with me
You can sleep the world away in your cocoon
But when you wake don't bellyache
Because you never did have quite what it takes to differentiate, no sir
That's not me 'cause I strive to be
CHORUS

And when I'm there I'll turn and wave
Count up all the things you saved
Buy 'em twice and thank you for your support
Right now I really don't know how near or far
And I don't care, that's where you are
I just keep moving forward
'Cause with every step there's something more
CHORUS
