Song Description

the writers observation of year after year of government slowly smothering God and Jesus out of the lives of the Americian Christian people.

Story Behind the Song

The song was born after listening to years of NonChristian and Christians alike talk of their disapointment with their leaders . allowing this sort of disrespect to the the word of God ,,,the loose immoral content of today's tv........... and asking the question why all of this this is being allowed to take place ,when the majority of America wants God to be God ,,,,,not government or judges to be God.

Lyrics

the took the ten commandments
out of Montgomery Alabama
and the took the bronze bible
from down Texas way
and they crucified Jesus
2000 years ago
they keep tryin to get rid of him
but thank God he wont go
chorus:
and they took ,and they took
and they try to take him away
and they'll twist and they'll turn
the truth in what they say
and they took ,and they took
and they took his life one day
but his spirit is one thing
they'll never take away

they took the truth from t v
now it makes wrong look right
sex , drugs and violence
grows dark upon the night
do our laws slowly
keep legalizeing sin
could sodom and gomora
be just around the bend

chorus

its about to the point
we're told what we can't say
and now they don't want his name
spoke on the air waves
why do they want Jesus
erased from our mind
seems like here lately
their working overtime

chorus:

and they crusified Jesus
2000 years ago
they keep tryin' to get rid of him
but thank God he won't go
naw' he won't go
