Lyrics

How's the Weather Today? II

1st Verse
His chrome wheels and sockets
His motors and sprockets
It's all so confusing I say
We don't talk politics
And religion is nixed
So, how is the weather today?
Yeah that is all we can say, today........

2nd Verse
I may seem aloof
But to tell you the truth
It's all silly banter I say
There's nothing too deep
Small talk is so cheap
So pray for good weather today
Yeah, pray for good weather today

Chorus
All these thoughts, spin in my head
Of all the things, I wish I'd said
We all do the dance, but can't take a stance
So, how is the weather today?
I guess that's all I can say...today!

3rd Verse
The oceans are rising
Our soldiers are dying
And still we have nothing to say!
We are friends-yeah we're neighbors
But alas we are strangers
And how is the weather today?
Yes, how is the weather today?
Today........

This song is a marvel. Classified as a waltz, it's so much more. Great use of metaphor. People dancing just talking about the weather because they are afraid to hit on the more current topics of the day, because the weather is safe. Avoid conflict, subjects that divide. But that's really crazy because there are so many relevant things to discuss. Love the rhyme neighbors/strangers; dance/stance; deep/cheap; aloof/truth. The song is just packed with great, original rhymes and the message is concise and clear. Nice job, songwriter!

Lovely piece, beautiful lyrics and great hook.
