Story Behind The Song
A "cowgirl" love song about a State? If you've never been here, then you'll never understand. Montana is a special place. One that feels different, smells different and has a unique beauty far beyond that of any other place you've ever been. With it's nick name "The Big Sky Country", you feel as though half the surface of the earth is right there in that place, and that half of the entire universe can be seen from it's grounds. The stars shine like the many glimmering lights of a brilliant Christmas tree from the "Big Sky". Simply a beautiful state. One in which you will fall in love with, quietly, slowly, but surely. This song was born in retrospect after the writer left the beauty of the area in pursuit of a music career. "Left" you say? "Why?" "Well, when there are more cows than people, ya gotta go sing to somebody that doesn't have four legs". The singer/songwriter, Linda Mckenzie, travels to Montana as much as possible but lives in the Nashville, Tennessee area. With a passion for the beauty of the state, it is Linda's hope that this song may give some insight to the visitors who have never been there, or remind those who, for whatever reason had to leave, about the majesty of the great State of Montana.

MONTANA LOVE SONG
THE STILLWATER VALLEY WAS LIT UP TONIGHT
BY THE LIGHT OF A MAGICAL MOON
I HELD MY SWEETHEART THERE UNDER THE STARS
HUMMIN' AN OLD COWBOY TUNE
UNDERNEATH THE BIG SKY OF MONTANA
COOL NITE BREEZES AND EASY GUITARS
HOWLIN' COYOTES AND WHISPERIN' WINDS
BLOW ME HOME TO THE PLACE
THAT'S LASSOE'D MY HEART
A STIR FROM THE HORSES / A BLANKET A STARS
A WIFF OF A WILD MOUNTAIN FLOWER
SOUNDS OF THE CREEK RUSHIN' QUIETLY BY
AS WE DRIFT OFF TO SLEEP BY THE FIRE
UNDERNEATH THE BIG SKY OF MONTANA
COOL NITE BREEZES AND EASY GUITARS
HOWLIN' COYOTES AND WHISPERIN' WINDS
BLOW ME HOME TO THE PLACE
THAT'S LASSOE'D MY HEART
ENDING TAG: YOU CAN BURY ME NEATH THE BIG MONTANA SKY
