Song Description

This song is about going with the flow, and changing direction if you're having to try too hard at something, because what's truly meant to be comes to you rather effortlessly.

Story Behind the Song

A woman I had always looked up to in my profession suddenly died, at a young age, and she had worked *so* hard to get to where she was, that it made me re-evaluate why I was trying so hard at work myself. All my efforts were getting me nowhere...my coworkers and superiors weren't listening to me, and I wasn't getting promoted. After her death, I thought about how, even if I did somehow figure out how to get promoted, I could wind up dead from all the stress at a young age like that woman, and it would all have been for nothing. Most of my professional relationships, and some of my personal relationships, seemed so forced, that I took a step back and thought to myself, "This isn't flowing...maybe I'm in the wrong stream".

Pleasing vocal. Subtle piano underneath works well. Lyrical message appealing. Memorable chorus/'hook'

Lyrics

Verse 1:
Spend your years reachin' for a goal
What if you get there and it swallows you whole?
It's not a given you'll get old
So get some sleep, don't always do what you're told
Follow the flow (x2)

Verse 2:
If you ain't reaping what you sow
Find somewhere else where you can grow
Let easy come and easy go
Why paddle on when you can float
Follow the flow (x2)

Chorus:
It won't take you anywhere you're not supposed to be
It won't cost you all your money and your sanity
You can ask me how you'll know you've found your destiny
It's still there when you let go because it's meant to be
Follow the flow (follow the flow), let go
Follow the flow

Verse 3:
Don't care how far you're down a road
If you don't turn back, you might implode
Don't be ashamed you didn't know
Very few paths to us were shown
Follow the flow (x2)

Chorus

Outro:
Follow the flow (x4)
