Story Behind The Song
I've seen it happen time and again.
Song Description
A guitar player's wife is breaking his heart because she parties all of the time. It may be that he has married his first love because he hasn't felt anything much in his heart until he found her. She "lives inside a cracked-crystal palace" in a world of hallucinations". It could be the crack or the crystal that has a grip on her. He has learned that love is over rated. She needs to leave.

You?ve been acting strange when you?re around me,

You and I have had our share of problems
B7 C B7
And I think that we?re having them a-gain
Em B7 Em
For ten long years I gave you my affection,
C G
Sometimes you even gave me some of yours.
C G
I guess it?s me that?s going to have a heart ache,
D G Em
Since you don?t seem to have one, any more
Bridge
Em G
You live inside a cracked-crystal palace
Em G
While our little house, suits me just fine
Em G
Your world?s a series of hallucinations
C G D Em9 D
But mine?s real and your?s is in your mind
Chorus
G D G
If you?re gonna break my heart it won?t matter,
C G
If you break it tomorrow or today.
C G
I don?t like the way that you?ve been acting
D Em9 D
And I don?t like anything you have to say
G D G
Until we met the only time I?ve used it.
C G
was when I saw a starving little child.
C G
Things like that could almost make me lose it.
D G Em
Other than that , I only used it, once in a while.

You said that money didn?t mean a thing
C G
The only thing you wanted was my loving
B7 C B7
Now I feel like I?m a pawn some damned game.
Em B7 Em
All you ever want to do is have a party
