Story Behind The Song
The title actually came from learning that a friend of mine, as a child, was cut in the eye and had to have surgery to install synthetic tear ducts. Obviously, the story of the song is quite different than the story behind the song.

Lyrics
ARTIFICIAL TEARS
I always stumble through the hard times
Never like to face the rain
You were trying to make it work
I was trying to pass the blame
When I had a losing hand
Still had one more card to play
I?d start crying
Artificial tears
You?d dry my
Artificial tears
Each time my
Artificial tears
Appeared for you
We were somewhere between love and a lie
I kept you in the dark
Made you laugh like a schoolgirl
And cry with all your heart
When you needed that tender touch
I could always play the part
I?d start crying
Artificial tears
You?d dry my
Artificial tears
Each time my
Artificial tears
Appeared for you
Now you caught on to my sad lines
And the games I used to play
You were a martyr in the making
But you found a brighter way
Found a brighter way
Artificial tears
Can?t dry my
Artificial tears
Don?t know why
Artificial tears
Don?t know why
Artificial tears still appear for you
