Song Description

Why do I keep going with trying to be a "Rock Star"? Why do I keep writing and performing music? Why don't I settle down and get a real job and have a kid? I don't know, I can't explain it inside. It's just a feeling.

Story Behind the Song

This song was written entirely on keyboards, including the guitar riffs. The vocals were done in one take for the lead and one take for the harmonies, originally intended just for an experiment to see how a potential arrangement would sound.

Lyrics

I've tried to believe in a number of things,
I found a good reason to,
When it all came down to the line,

And I've come to agree that between you and me,
There's no use in long range plans,
Cause you know I don't have the time,

You know I'm unavailable, yeah!

I'll never understand how things work out,
It's something so lost out on me,

But I've analyzed them
And I've gone all the way,
To try and explain,
What works for you,
Won't work for me,

Its just a feeling,
You gotta believe me,
I know you say you're gonna leave it and you try,
So do I,
I don't really want to hear it,
What your'e feeling,
You feel I've been a misleading,
But I'll get by on just a feeling for now,

I put it to you that you'll never agree,
In spite of your years on me,
You know I"m making out alright,

But you better concede that you know you can see,
It's only a matter of time,
Before I push you to the end of the line,

Cause I"m a better competitor yeah!

I'll never understand how things work out,
It's something so lost out on me,

Cause I realize that,
Sometime I have to be,
Willing to lose what I have worked so hard to be,

Its just a feeling,
You gotta believe me,
I know you say you're gonna leave it and you try,
So do I,
I don't really want to hear it,
What your'e feeling,
You feel I've been a misleading,
But I'll get by on just a feeling for now,

I'll never understand how things work out,
It's something so lost out on me,

But I've analyzed it,
And I've gone all the way,
I'm willing to lose what works for me,
I have to leave,

Its just a feeling,
You gotta believe me,
I know you say you're gonna leave it and you try,
So do I,
I don't really want to hear it,
What your'e feeling,
You feel I've been a misleading,
But I'll get by on just a feeling for now,
