Story Behind The Song
This song just bubbled out of me playing around on the key boards for the opening verse riff. My wife is doing some of the intro backing vocals. The intro was done in the "clock ticking" type theme to convey a sense of urgency.
The song was heavily influenced by Asia's "Only Time Will Tell", and all the chorus guitar lead parts are actually simulations using a keyboard patch I developed.
Song Description
This song is about an ex band member and friend of mine who spent 30 years pursuing his dream of being a "Rock Star" at the cost of everything else in his life. I wrote it seeing it through my eyes by as if I were him.

Lyrics
So here I am,
Inside myself,
I see another,
Right through the other side,
The seeds are sown,
With no respondence,
Who'd believe it?,
That I'm defying the lies and you know,
I couldn't ever run away,
It's there before me,
My destination,
My chance's fading,
Oh it's gone, yeah,
My time is gone,
To one devotion,
The years have flown,
But I couldn't see it,
That I'm biding my time and you know..
That I'm racing time,
And I've wasted mine,
I've led a one track life,
I can't change my past,
Can't break it's grasp,
It's all I can do just holding the line,
Now I'm alone,
To face my fears,
A hopeless dreamer,
And those I've known are lost,
So here I am,
On another run,
I live on memories,
And I'm drying my eyes and you know,
That I'm racing time,
And I've wasted mine,
I've led a one track life,
I can't change my past,
Can't break it's grasp,
It's all I can do just holding the line,
Though it's been a lonely road,
Still I'm choosing to take it,
That I'm racing time,
And I've wasted mine,
I've led a one track life,
I can't change my past,
Can't break it's grasp,
It's all I can do just holding the line,
