Story Behind The Song
Three things: I got to watch the Calgary Stampede from a a few saving inches above the stall where the competitors get on the broncos; lean forward and you could lose a tooth to one of those hooves; one of the most exciting things I've ever seen, the cowboys mounting their horses and wrapping the rope around their hand, and the chute opening -- and that's before the ride even begins. I also got to know the great Canadian cowboy singer (and much more) Ian Tyson, who told me a lot about real cowboys. And finally, many people come to NYC because of a talent, looking to realize it fully, but get caught up in the competitive hassle and maybe forget what they loved about it.

Lyrics
Let the Rodeo Go
Break away, bronco rider
Leave the rodeo behind
Leave the Twisters and Old Sidewinders
And heal your bones and ease your mind.
You don't need silver saddles
And you throw your gold away
And each day now is the same old battle
And all you win is one more day.
Oh oh, let it go
Oh woh, let 'er go
Oh woh woh let the rodeo go
You were born knowing horses
Born to ride and ride and rise 'em far and free
Now you fight them inside those fences
You're not the 'boy you used to be.
(CHORUS)
(INSTRUMENTAL BRIDGE)
Break away, bronco rider
Let the rodeo leave you
Take a wander to somewhere wilder
With bigger sky, a longer view.
(CHORUS)
