Lyrics

The Elfin Knight

My plaid away, my plaid away
and ore hill and far away
and far away to Galloway
My plaid has not been blown away

The Elfin knight sits on yon hill
Humming
He blows his horn both loud and shrill
The wind hath blown my plaid away

I wish that horn were in my chest
Ba Ba Ba Lillie Ba
Yea and the knight in my arms nest
The wind hath blown my plaid away

She had no sooner these words said
Humming
When the Elfin knight came to her bed
The wind hath blown my plaid away

Married to me if thou would'st be
Ba Ba Lillie Ba
a courtesy thou must do for me
the wind hath blown my plaid away

You must make me a fine holland sark
Humming
without any stitch or fine needle work
the wind hath blown my plaid away

My plaid away, my plaid away
and ore hill and far away
and far away to Galloway
My plaid has not been blown away

Now since you you've asked this one thing of me
Humming
Tis right I ask as much o thee
The wind hath blown my plaid away

Find me an acre of good ley land
Ba Ba Lillie Ba
Between the Saut sea and the sea strand
the wind hath blown my plaid away

And when that ye have done your work
Humming
Then come to me for the holland sark
the wind hath blown my plaid away

My plaid away, my plaid away
and ore hill and far away
and far away to Galloway
My plaid shall not be blown away

I'll not quite my plaid for my life
Ba Ba Lillie Ba
I have me seven barins and wife
the wind shall not blow my plaid away

My maiden head I'll then keep still
Humming
So let that Elfin knight be off
the winds not blown my plaid away

My plaid away, my plaid away
and ore hill and far away
and far away to Galloway
My plaid has not been blown away

All the elements of a traditional Irish folk song. This song hits all the right marks. Beautifully recorded. Well done.

This was outstanding. The song had a very pretty melody. I liked the mellow drum part, tt added rhythm to the song without being over the top. I liked the guitar work and I thought you were quite tasteful in adding other instrumental themes as the song progressed. I thought the singing and the instrumental work was top notch and so was the recording.

Powerful intro. Nice adaptation of the song for the Celtic genre.
enjoyed it immensely

from the first deep mallet strike upon the drums and the crisp entrance of the guitar, the listener is certain of a most grand adventure about to unfold. pipes and harps further enhance the magic of an ageless tale so gently told by the songstress. classic minstrel performance can be found here.

Fantastic cover of Scarborough Fair! This arrangement just blows me away. Very beautiful instrumental arrangement. The mix of guitar, Celtic drums, pipes and a synth layer gives an absolutely magical sound to this song. Wonderful vocal performance that fits the Celtic style so well. Great recording. Well done to all.
