Have sung this forever a cappella now it was time to sing it with music. I was 17 when I first sang this. I would sit in front of our HFI and listen until I could sing with out the music.
From the opera of 1934...Porky and Bess
Summertime and the living is easy
Fish are jumping and the cotton is high
Though your daddy's rich
And your ma she's good lookin'
So hush, little baby, don't you cry
One of these mornins'
your goina' rise up, singing
Then you'll spread your wings
And you'll take the sky
But til that mornin'
there's a nothing can harm you
With mammy and daddy
So hush little baby
Don't, don't, don't
You cry ....Summertime, Summertime
I like this vibe. I feel like I know this song already. Nice use of cultural adages.
Nice treatment of this classic tune. Especially like the nylon guitar and its choice of notes. Nice chord movement at 1:45
Great job on the cover......
Great cover of an old favorite folk song. Love the simple production with sweet, soothing instrumentation. Nice guitar. Soulful vocal! Way to go!
Nice voice, kinda' sultry and sweaty. Decent guitar part, works with this arrangement. A generally nice redo of a classic show tune.
Lovely voice and very nice acoustic pairing with instrumentation. Strings, I expect from violin nicely done,as is the sound of the guitar interpretation. Can't think of a synonymous performer but this is bery pleasamt to liseten to.
I loved this singer's accent! A really unusual and captivating voice with good range.
I liked the sparseness of the arrangement & I thought she did justice to what could have been a very difficult song to cover as it's so ubiquitous. Overall I thought it was a lovely and sensuous take on the song.
Nice soulful offering of this classic tune. Well sung and played.
Just the right touch of backing instrumentation to highlight the vocal. I enjoyed a few different words used here and there from some I've heard before and that added a new flare for me.Nicely done!
