Story Behind The Song
I was driving in a car with two of my friends who were dating. Both of them were sitting up front, and I was watching them from the back seat. I felt all alone, and they looked so in love. As my thoughts became embittered by lonliness, God softly spoke to my heart, saying that the love my friends shared was not nearly as great as the love that He had for me.

Lyrics
Vs 1: The two were so in love, their eyes were sparkling bright
Their terms of endearment, the way he held her tight
She watched, somewhat with envy, enthralled in their happiness
Wanting, hoping, wishing someone cared for her like this
She thought that she could never deserve another's love
Then she heard a voice speaking gently from above:
Ch: I do. I care for you. I've called you my own. You are mine.
If only your eyes could sparkle as bright
As mine do when you're on my mind
I've held you so tight, so close to my heart
In times when you suffered to grow
I do. I care for you. But how much; you'll never know.
Vs 2: Oh, she's not all alone in the world that seems so full of hate
Emanuel's arms are stretched open wide
To hold her, He'd wait and He'd wait
(chorus)
Br: I've done nothing in my life to deserve this kind of love
He cares because that's who He is
And not because I'm worthy enough
Return to my first love
(chorus)
