Story Behind The Song
My brother is in the United States Air Force, and in service to his country, was recently deployed to Iraq. While he was over there, he asked me, via e-mail, to write a song for him. He requested "something about being at war, away from home, something patriotic." I wrote these words in dedication to his bravery, and to all those who serve their country.

Lyrics
Vs 1: A cool breeze blows across a war-stricken land
And there an American soldier stands
In the silence, his eyes search the stars in the skies
His thoughts return to home
Ch: But duty calls and he's so far away, making tomorrow a better day
He's at war and I am beaming with pride; he's my hero
Vs 2: He's a brother, a friend, a father, a son
So many lives have been touched by this one
His children need him at home to trun out the light
But daddy can't tuck you in tonight
Ch: 'Cause duty calls and he's so far away
Making tomorrow a better day
He's at war and I am beaming with pride
He's my hero
Br: Commitment lies with his country; devotion to loved ones at home
For after all, they are the reason he's so far away, so alone
When bullies rise up, men of courage stand tall
If you don't stand strong, then you don't stand at all
And that's why he's over there fighting
For me, defending and serving
Ch: Duty calls and he's so far away, making tomorrow a better day
He's at war and I am beaming with pride; he's my hero
