La Riviere

Story Behind The Song

I was inspired to write the melody of this song while playing a piano selection by Claude Debussy. His harmonies always fascinate me. To me, the music sounded like water flowing over a familiar path, turning a bend into paradise of wilderness. The name of this song is french for "The RIver."

Lyrics

Vs 1: Treading this lonely road, journey'd so long
Tears stain the pathway where the river runs along

Ch: Cross through the waters now, no turning back
Lay down your burdens now, He'll bring you through at last

Vs 2: Smiling through disbelief, trembling inside
Fears would encompass and yet courage will abide

(chorus)
