Story Behind The Song
I did not like this song when I first wrote it. It happens, I'm sure, to many songwriters. A melody comes, but it's not something they would normally find themselves aurally attracted to. This was true of SOLSANW, until I went into the bathroom one day and suddenly, new chords arrived and insisted they become a part of the song, in bridge form. And so it was done. Two bridges appear in the song. At one time, my manager compared me to Britney Spears when he heard this song, but only because of the "baby baby"s.
Song Description
Songs sometimes seem like people. Have you ever watched a person walking by, and imagined the kind of music that might emanate from them if they could have their own soundtrack playing everywhere they went? I do. I imagine the chords, melodies, harmonies, and instrumentation of a person. In this song, the narrator wants to essentially create the soundtrack of her lover, so that she can understand him better--in a language she knows very well--music.

Lyrics
Wouldn?t it be easy
If you were a melody
Or maybe a rhythm
I could beat with my fingertips on my chest?
Wouldn?t it be beautiful
If our songs could emit
From our bodies like sweat
And we could know each other?s crescendos?
Chorus:
But what do I have to give?
Just another song that you can?t name
That no one will ever hear
Because I can?t even share it with you
Oh?.some of love?s songs are never written
Oh?some of love?s songs are never written
Wouldn?t it be honest
If you were an instrument?
I?d know where you leaked
Where to spit when I have no breath left to play you
Wouldn?t it be electric
If you were a chord progression?
I could predict your every step
And never expect discordance
Repeat Chorus:
Bridge 1:
Oh?Oh?
Sway to my song
Sway to me, sway to my song
Bridge 2:
Let me sing you, sound you out
Don?t know why I try to coerce you
When I know I cannot force you?.
Wouldn?t we be closer
If I could touch you like
I caress a piano
Every bone of your body?all 88 keys to your soul
Wouldn?t it make us whole?
Repeat Chorus:
