Song Description

With an intro reminiscent of the theme from The X-Files, this modern-rock thriller about shadows and darkness draws from the styles of Evanescence and ?N Sync. The song begins building emotional tension immediately and sustains it through the fast-paced chorus. The intensity, released in the verses and recaptured in the hook, climaxes in the interlude following the second verse with distorted guitars and vocal interplay. The drum-break after the climax releases the tension just as the piano crescendo leads back into the chorus melody for a hard hitting close.

Story Behind the Song

Do you believe in God? Well if you do, than by default, you also believe in the devil. There was a time in my life when I walked amidst the shadows of evil forces where manifestations of spiritual wickedness had become far too real to ignore. This song is about those shadows? the ones man will continue to drift through until the end of days.

Lyrics

Drifting in the shadows I?ve lost my way again
I'm wounded in the battle, I'm all alone
I don't know where I have gone
Sinking even deeper I can't describe
The way I've channeled all the anger that burns inside
I don't know what I've become
Hoping that there will come a time
That l could really start to believe
I can see the light
It's far beyond the end of my reach
And so I drift on...

I never wanted to be here
This world of darkness has overtaken me
Under the spell of my own fears
I?m fading farther away
I never wanted to lose hope
This world of madness is terrifying me
All that I want is to go home

Drifting in the shadows I lost my way again
I'm wounded in the battle, I'm all alone
I don't know where I have gone
Sinking even deeper I can't describe
The way I've channeled all the anger that burns inside
I don't know what I've become
Hoping that there will come a time
That l could really start to believe
I can see the light
It's far beyond the end of my reach
And s0o I drift on...

And as I drown in corruption
My will to live is devitalizing me
Condemned and utterly helpless
I have no words left to say
I never wanted to lose hope
This world of madness is terrifying me
All that I want is to go home
Take me home
