Song Description

Agitated danceable acoustic guitar salute to the mixed feelings of "should I stay or go?" Going is easy, but the heart wants to hold on... to the point where memories start to steal the present, eating away at the here and now until they are finally let go with a tempered sadness.

Story Behind the Song

I wrote this song as an ode to all the cut-short relationships I've experienced... the realization that the people I've known intimately will always be kept in my heart, or me in their hearts, is in a way a form of diplomatic revenge, but it is also an impetus to live in the moment, not in the memory.

Lyrics

VERSE 1:

I
Have promised myself I
Would leave at this first sign
There is trouble here in paradise

Just when I
Think my feet are out the door
When I just can’t take no more
When it’s safe to sigh say goodbye

PRE-CHORUS 1:

I know I’ve come to seek you
Just know I want the real you...

CHORUS 1:

Keep me inside your heart
Your heart that’s aching
Reach me and I am yours...

(TAG)

VERSE 2:

A stolen moment
That has not yet been returned
I’ll look to the end of time
The ends of the Earth (and your eyes)

PRE-CHORUS 2:

Your eyes won’t deceive you
You’ll feel like I feel, too

CHORUS 2:

So keep me inside your heart
Your heart that’s aching
Reach me and I am yours…!!

BRIDGE:

(Keep me inside… keep me inside…
keep me inside… keep me inside
your heart/mind, ohhhh…)

PRE-CHORUS OUTS:

And your eyes won’t deceive you
You’ll feel like I feel, too...

CHORUS OUTS:

Keep me inside your heart
Your heart that’s aching/breaking
Reach me and I am yours… (repeat x 3 out)

OUTTRO:

(A stolen a stolen… moment)
