Song Description

Fiery and unique punk/pop/electronic tune with motorcycle guitars that gives a universal message in a very clever lyrical way. At times all of us feel like we don't quite fit in, or feel like we need to be somewhere (or someTHING) else... this is a sparkly and danceable but serious message that it is OK to feel like an Upside-Down Girl livin' in a Right-Side Up World...

Story Behind the Song

I wrote this song right before my travels to Australia to sing and work on a music production Down Under. Several well-meaning people made some off-handed remarks about my being "an Upside-Down Girl" and the idea stuck to my head like glue, so I decided to write a song about it, and it came to describe a universal feeling of not belonging along with telling a great story in a completely unique and fun way.

Lyrics

VERSE 1:

From up here his letters look all
backwards mangled twisted round
I can feel him through the wires
He?s feeding fires? he dreams out loud?

PRE-CHORUS 1:

For so long?
Been watchin? this world go round (so long)
Since I?ve left this town and this crowd
I?m hangin? around?

CHORUS 1:

I?m an upside-down girl livin? in a right-side-up world
Upside-down girl, livin? in a right-side-up world
So turn it around girl, you?re lost and you?re found girl
You?re an upside-down girl

TAG:

(better tie me to the bed)

VERSE 2:

I?m deep inside his universe
it?s a brand new world it?s in hi-res
Pack me up in Styrofoam
with a box of CDs then press send?

PRE-CHORUS 2:

For so long?
Been watchin? this world go round (he said)
Since I?ve left this town and this crowd
I?m hangin? around?

CHORUS 2:

I?m an upside-down girl livin? in a right-side-up world
Upside-down girl, livin? in a right-side-up world
So turn it around girl, you?re lost and you?re found girl
You?re an upside-down girl? Yowwwww?!!!

BRIDGE/INSTRUMENTAL:

Uhhhh-Huhhhh!
Uhhhh-Huh!
Uhhhh-Huhhhh!

PRE-CHORUS OUTS:

For so long?
Watchin? this world go round (he said)
Since I?ve left this town and this crowd
I?m hangin? around?

CHORUS OUTS:

I?m an upside-down girl livin? in a right-side-up world
Upside-down girl, livin? in a right-side-up world
So turn it around girl, you?re lost and you?re found girl
Caught in a dreamworld, so turn it around girl?

You?re an upside-down girllivin? in a right-side-up world
Upside-down girl, livin? in a right-side-up world
So turn it around girl you?re caught in a dreamworld
Turn it around girl? you?re caught in a dream, dream, dream!

OUTTRO:

... do do do do do do do (turn it around, girl!)
... do do do do do do do (turn it around, girl!)
