Song Description

The Acoustic Guitar Project: One Guitar, One Week, One Song. http://theacousticguitarproject.com/project/syracuse/donna-dennihy-stupid

Story Behind the Song

This song was written for The Acoustic Guitar Project, a global music platform that inspires musicians to write an original song and record it live in one week. The Mission: To inspire creativity by simplifying its process to the bare essentials; To encourage a deeper connection between the artist and their art; and To tell truthful, meaningful stories. How it works: One Guitar: Songwriters are provided a guitar and a simple recorder. One Week: Each musician has one week to write an original song and record it live. No editing is allowed. Musicians also shoot a video describing their experience and/or song. One Song

Lyrics

Stupid

Stupid girl, get in the car
Just shut up, we don't have far
Stay down low
Maybe tomorrow you can go

Stupid girl, you don't need school
You talk too much, and they're not cool
Stay down low
Don't tell them what they want to know

Only one or two faces
That don't cringe or frown
Most people's eyes won't connect
She feels like she could drown
Her cracked boots lined with ziplock bags
Are piled up with the rest
Winter coat twice her size
With nothing to digest
Is this a test?

Stupid girl, you can't buy that
Don't touch nothin', you're nothin' but a brat
Don't make me blow
Don't make me lose control

Stupid girl, you're no good
I'd give you up if I could
I'd let you go
Just wait 'til we get home

Only one or two faces
That don't cringe or frown
Most people's eyes won't connect
She feels like she could drown
Her cracked boots lined with ziplock bags
Are piled up with the rest
Winter coat twice her size
With nothing to digest
Is this a test?
Is this a test? Is this a test?
Just do your best

When will this work end? When can I go home?
Some things never mend. Some are left with holes.

Stupid girl, get my gun
Start the car, we're gonna have some fun
Stay down low
Maybe tomorrow you can go
