Song Description

This song was written to describe the feelings Bess was going thru after the break up of her first true love. She would see him in her dreams and when she was awake everything she did or saw reminded her of the times they spent together or of him. It's about healing ones self and ridding yourself of those feelings and learning how to let got. The bridge tells the story of letting him get washed away and the tide bringing her closure and freedom.

Story Behind the Song

Written about a relationship that recently ended and how I couldn't escape The People, The Places, The Music that reminded me of him and us.

Lyrics

VERSE
another night and I am restless
reality is one big dream
I'm getting used to life with out you
but I still see you in my sleep

CHORUS
the people
the places
the music in the background
you are everywhere I turn
and then I finally get distracted
somehow end up right back here
I swear it I never learn

VERSE
when I'm alone I swear I feel you
oh it's a broken record that you
have made me into
you are the song in me
repeating in my memories
and I can't seem to move on
so I just skip a beat
and still I see
CHORUS
the people
the places
the music in the background
you are everywhere I turn
and then I finally get distracted
somehow end up right back here
I swear it I never learn

BRIDGE

I'll see the day
a vision of your face
wash it away
the tide's ever changing
and all the mistakes
decisions that I've made
carried the same
but the wave couldn't take me
never take me away
CHORUS

the people
the places
the music in the background
you are everywhere I turn
and then I finally get distracted
somehow end up right back here
I swear it I never learn
