I am a singer/songwriter who grew up in a small town in Arkansas delta country. It was there, nestled between the Little River and St. Francis River where my imagination began to take root.

Growing up in a family of storytellers, songwriting became a natural expression of that tradition. This love of story drew me to the songs of Neil Young and Bob Dylan. Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris kept me in my rural roots and ignited my love of harmony and great vocals.

Living in Tulsa, I perform, both as a solo artist and with a band and host a local NPR show called Folk Salad. In 2000 I released my first full length CD, Pennies On The Track. The songs deal with missed opportunities and lost souls finding redemption.

In 2006 I won 3rd place in the Billboard Songwriting Contest in rock, and in 2005, first place in the Ozark Mt. Folk Festival Songwriting Contest.

My songs lean towards rock, country, bluegrass, and gospel, but at their heart they are folk.

Scott's Bio

I am a Marital and Family Therapist in private practice in Tulsa, Oklahoma. That is what I do for employment. Who I am is a writer and singer/songwriter. I write poetry, short stories, and I'm working on a novel. As a therapist, I have always been interested in peoples stories, and my love of story shows up in my songwriting.

I have been playing guitar, singing, and writing songs for over 22 years. I recorded my first CD, "Pennies On The Track' in 2000 with my then band, Empty Pockets.

My wife is a talented oil painting artist and I have two extroidinarily talented sons, both musicians, so I guess you could say art permeates our home.

In 2005 I won first place in the Ozark Mt. Folk Festival Songwriting Contest, and I won 3rd place in the rock category of the 13th annual Billboard Songwriting Contest in 2006.

I grew up in Northeastern Arkansas, in a small farming community called Marked Tree. I consider growing up in the delta country of Arkansas to be a huge influence on who I am as a person and it infuses my songwriting and my poetry. I also believe my family has had a huge impact on me, with their colorful and wonderful lives.
