Born and raised in Washington State, Bertoldi's learned all he knows about music from listening to other songwriters and musicians. His major influences are Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Tom Waits. His songs and/or lyrics have been recognized in major songwriting competitions, such as the John Lennon Song Contest, American Songwriter Magazine's Lyric Contest. In 2019, R.X.'s unreleased original,"Do Something Good" Wins 3rd Place in the Indie International Song Contest.

Hey man! I just want to reach out and throw some praise your way. I just got finished reviewing songs for the HOT 100 contest and did something that I rarely do...I listened to your song Change It All all the way through. And then I had to look up the artists to see who wrote this excellent tune. Best of luck to you. I'm gonna go peruse some more of your music now!
